I purchased a lifetime membership and the license key is invalid. I am on a local server. I got this plugin instead of using a directory theme I have had for some time. Going from something that works out of the box to something that needs other plugins and still doesn’t work is not a very good user experience.
December 26, 2019 at 12:51 am #523022Hello,
Did you insert the key in
WP Backend – GeoDirectory – Extensions – Membership (tab)
Please make sure you are running the latest version of GD and WP Easy Updates.
If the issues persists please share WP Admin credentials in a private reply and we will look into the issue and get you a fix.
December 26, 2019 at 1:14 am #523023Yes I did. This is on a local server. My computer so it will not be so easy to share credentials.
December 26, 2019 at 1:18 am #523024i just got a notice to update easy updates
December 26, 2019 at 1:22 am #523025Now it says the license is active.
I hope this project works out. it is taking a lot more time than using what I am familiar with.I have moved the pages so geodirectory is no longer the front page do I only need to have the search and add listing pages for it to function?
Thank you
December 26, 2019 at 1:50 am #523026it will still only let me post to the city I originally picked.
I am having a hard time adding post outside the original city.

December 26, 2019 at 1:52 am #523027It looks like I can only post to my address. It looks like I will have a lot of businesses at my location.
December 26, 2019 at 1:57 am #523028Moving the pages is not how you change the front page.
Setting the front page is done at
WP Settings > Reading > Your home page displays > A static page (select below) > Select any non-GeoDirectory Pages.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/getting-started/front/You will need all the pages that need connecting here:
GeoDirectory > Settings > General tab > Pages sub-tab.
They should not be given a parent page.
If you no longer have those pages, run
GeoDirectory > Status > Tools tab > Create default GeoDirectory pagesWe recommend using the wizard to get started: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/getting-started/#wizard
Working locally often will mean some things may not work 100%, using a live server is recommended.
Thanks
December 26, 2019 at 2:16 am #523029okay thanks. yes I meant the geodirectory page is no longer the front page, it is my index page. I was hoping to have the directory under a directory page with a parent page then all the other pages and listings under that page. is that not possible?
I also have the issue of not able to list outside my city. Any suggestions for that. I thought that was one of the benefits of having a license.
December 26, 2019 at 2:25 am #523030I was looking at your documentation and videos and see I need to install a separate component to have listing outside my area
December 26, 2019 at 3:59 am #523032The directory page is at /location/, but you can rename that page and its slug.
For example see:
https://wpgeo.directory/starter/location/
https://wpgeo.directory/You will need the Location Manager, install it from GeoDirectory > Extensions > Addons.
Thanks
December 26, 2019 at 5:13 am #523037thank you I will try that
December 31, 2019 at 4:15 am #523484Thanks for the previous help. There have been a few hiccups I have managed to figure out on my own. But now I am trying to get the address and phone number to show up on a places listing.
I noticed a nice sidebar display with phone, address, and map. It may be handy to know how to get that as well.
I am using the Divi theme builder and running the latest release of WP. I also have Buddypress installed.
December 31, 2019 at 7:44 am #523496hi Andrew Ledford,
Thanks for your reply. You can use the “Location Description” widget as explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/templates/location/#more-design-options to achieve this. Is this what you’re looking for?
Thanks!
December 31, 2019 at 7:55 am #523498I noticed a nice sidebar display with phone, address, and map. It may be handy to know how to get that as well.
Add the “GD > Output Location” widget to the sidebar of the detail page and add any custom field you want to show there to the sidebar.
