An owner of a listing on the site I look after has complained because they are not appearing in a search for listings in their local town.

They are searching for Bradford and West Yorkshire, which is the town and area that appears in the url of their listing so it is strange that they do not appear near the top of the search.

    How can we fix this?

Yes that’s right but that is not what happens when we type Yorkshire or Bradford into the search field. It’s happening on the home page but also on others.

It does show people who are further away though which is why it’s strange.

The search radius is 200 miles so it should cover that.

The search for “bradford” as just text is being sent to Google and comes back with the lat lon in the URL above. A query is sent to the DB then for the search radius around that point, and all results are then ordered by distance. On the page the first profile is listed as having a distance less than others in the list.

Thanks for that info Alex but it doesnt answer my question.

How I fix this issue if a customer searches for Bradford or West Yorkshire and their listing does not show when it should do.

The url you posted is not what is redirected to when you search – I dont know how you got that.

Is this a problem with the maps API? Do I need to switch back to Google Maps for this work?

It could be a problem with the listing.

Try resaving the bradford profile after you move the map pin to adjust it. You may need to paste the street address.

If that isn’t the issue then please share WP Admin credentials so we can take a look at the settings and what is wrong with the bradford profile.

It looks like there is a missing map pin for the bradford listing profile default category, too.
