I am using the GDF Modern theme in V2. When I post a directory listing to Facebook it shows two images, first the default for that category and then the correct featured image for the custom post type. When I post to Facebook manually this is easy to do, I just select the second image (see attached image, highlighted in yellow, there is an arrow to select the images in Facebook). But when this is done automatically the first image comes up not the desired featured image for that WordPress post. When go into the post the featured image is set correctly, but the Yoast Social area shows the default post image (see image) and I have to then browse to it and correct it (see image).
When I use the Facebook Sharing Debugger I do see the correct image but it is further down the list so that the default image is what shows for that post by default. I am using Yoast SEO and allow it to overwrite the metadata for this CPT. Question, how can I correct this so that each time I don'[t have to manually correct each CPT post to show the correct Facebook image under the Yoast Social settings?

I have asked a developer to have a closer look at your question.
    Thanks

Thanks. Just have them look at any other roadside tribute post entry, not the one I included above as it was edited in the back end to correct the og tag.

I tracked down the issue. This site was using an AMP extension (Better AMP), and the related Glue for Yoast SEO & AMP plugin to connect it to Yoast. The AMP extension was not properly creating the featured post image tag. So that then fed it to Yoast SEO and created the error. I saw this because the Facebook og debugger was seeing a /AMP url in the code. I first removed the default open graph image url from Yoast SEO / Social. Then I deactivated the two AMP extensions, flushed the cache it and the og debug tool then tested correctly and picked up the post image for a post that I never manually edited the Yoast SEO / Social tags for. I was going to deprecate AMP on this site anyway, so this made do it.
