    Hi,

    I’m looking to change the appearance of my search results page, so that the link to view the listing is changed from “Read More” to “More Details, to display more text in the listing snippet, and to change the “Read More” link so that it isn’t on top of the snippet, and is instead underneath the snippet.

    Please can you let me know whether these are possible to do?

    Many Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hello,

    if you haven’t already, now is a good time to ‘get to know’ the GD Archive item template. That template controls the content that is shown in the “mini listings” (archive items) on the Search archive results and other page likes the Archive and Location page.

    To change the “Read more” text you will want to remove the current GD Post Content shortcode and add a new one.

    Something like this:

    [gd_post_content key="post_content" limit="15" read_more="More Details" alignment="left"]

    To address the link itself, try this CSS:

    a.gd-read-more {
        display: block;
        text-align: right;
    }

    Hi both,

    Thank you for getting back to me and sorry for the delay in me getting back to you. The page this appears on is http://elonexdev.wpengine.com/screens/, and the website is using Elementor, so it’s using widgets instead of shortcode to display the listings. I have tried the css but it doesn’t have any effect.

    Also, I have a slight amendment on my query:
    Is it possible to remove the fade on the listing description excerpt where it displays the excerpt and then has a link saying “Read More” after the excerpt instead? I would prefer the listings to look like perhaps a block of text ending in ellipsis, with the Read More Link underneath, instead of the link being above the fade and the text fading out, as it gives the impression that when you click “Read More” it will display more of the excerpt, instead of taking the user to the listing.

    Many Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your reply. Could you try using the custom CSS code below and see if it works.

    body ul.geodir-category-list-view li .gd-list-item-right .geodir-field-post_content .gd-read-more-fade, body ul.geodir-category-list-view li .gd-list-item-right .geodir-post-content-container .gd-read-more-fade {
        background-image: none;
        position: relative;
    }

    Hi Kor,

    Thank you very much for this snippet, it’s very close to being there, however it looks like some of the snippets for the listings don’t have a “Read More” link. Is there any way to amend this, maybe such as limiting the amount of characters in the excerpt? I have checked the elementor widget though and I can’t see a setting for this.

    Many Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your reply. It could be possible using custom CSS code. Could you share your Website WP admin access here in private reply?

    Hello,

    you can do that yourself by editing the GD Archive item template.

    Find the shortcode that looks like this, and replace it with the one below:

    [gd_post_content key="post_content" limit="60" read_more="Read More..." alignment="right" strip_tags="1"]

    Use the shortcode builder to make your own:
