The neighborhood field is intriguing. Problem is it does nothing. I’m assuming it is automatically looking for neighborhoods and then can’t find any. If it can’t find neighborhoods for the business I tested, then it won’t find them for any.
So is it broken or just unreliable? If either one of those, how do I remove it?
April 10, 2020 at 1:00 am #539375Neighborhoods is very much a US concept, they are like smaller parts of a city.
For other countries, you would have to create your own neighborhoods at
GD > Settings > Locations tab > Cities sub-tab > Add Neighborhood [see image].You can just disable it at
GD > Settings > Locations tab > Settings sub-tab > Enable neighbourhoods? > NOThanks
April 10, 2020 at 2:05 am #539399thank you. I’ll add it doesn’t work. I have a business in Willow Glen which is very much a neighborhood. it even has a town, but it’s in San Jose. If anything would qualify as a neighborhood, Willow Glen would and yet GEODIR couldn’t find it. I’ll just disable it. Thanks.
April 10, 2020 at 6:14 am #539412I guess you are not using the Google Maps API, but OpenstreetMaps.
The Google Map API will fill in the Willow Glen neighborhood automatically on my test site.
ThanksApril 10, 2020 at 6:30 am #539416Interesting. Ok, I got the Google Map API but I’m still not getting neighborhoods. And now I get this error on the map: “This page can’t load Google Maps correctly.” Is that why neighborhoods is not working. Why am I getting that error? And it says “for development purposes only” on top of the map.

April 10, 2020 at 6:41 am #539418You must enable Billing on the Google Cloud Project at https://console.cloud.google.com/project/_/billing/enable
Learn more at https://developers.google.com/maps/gmp-get-startedBut you can test it at https://wpgeo.directory/starter/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place
Thanks
April 10, 2020 at 6:56 am #539422Ah, ok. I forgot they require that now. So that’s done. I had to create a project first and then create a new API in that project. Now I get: “Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.”April 10, 2020 at 7:02 am #539424And now I can’t even edit the address because it has a bunch of ! in circles across the form field.
April 10, 2020 at 7:12 am #539426going through Google APIs dashboard and everything looks good there. The API is enabled as is billing.
It does say this at the top of the page in Google on the Overview page: “If you are seeing “Can’t load” or Rate Limit Exceeded errors in your mobile app, your app may be using a deprecated version of the Places SDK for Android or iOS. Find migration guides for Android and iOS to begin using the new Places SDKs.”
this is a web app, so that probably does not apply, but thought I’d point it out just in case.

April 11, 2020 at 12:14 am #539562You go back to the API settings in the Google console, and edit.
Sometimes this works too:*.supportyourtown.online/*
April 11, 2020 at 12:19 am #539564Oh shoot. Looks like my other reply didn’t get saved. I actually found where to edit it last night and changed it. (It was set.) Didn’t help.
Here’s what was there when I went in just now: https://supportmytown.online/*
I just replaced it with: *.supportmytown.online/* (which I think was there originally)Still broken. If you go to the site, you will see the map load and then quickly get overwritten by the error.
April 11, 2020 at 12:55 am #539566The URL is supportYOURtown.online, not supportMYtown.online, can you check that?
