The read more option that lived over the excerpts is gone — now the entire description is showing and my client wants the short excerpts with the read more function back.

Is this a setting I can fix or a bug?

Hello,

you should be able to fix that easily.

Check your GD Archive item template. Use a new GD Post Content shortcode there.

I think we are talking about two different elements, I am talking about the short code element, I am not using the archive page. https://amanacolonies.com/places-to-eat-drink/eat/restaurants/ is the URL attached are two screenshots for you to reference.

That giant excerpt used to have a few sentences then gradient that would say READ MORE for the user to click so that the whole description doesn’t fill out the entire page.

Yeh, that’s how it works.

Open up your WP Backend, and find the GD Archive item.

Edit that and it will change the display of the items in that list.
