With regards to reviews, why not display the review entry form/options too all visitors, logged in and not.

Then, upon posting the review, if not logged in, ask the user to create an account while retaining their review information and the listing it is related to.

I guarantee this method will garner more reviews because people will have already invested their time in writing the review before learning that they must be logged in to do so. Sure, a percentage will leave before creating an account – but more people will create accounts.

I’ve had 98k+ visitors in the past 30 days and nobody has added a review. My old system did it the other way and I would expect to have had 100-200 reviews with it and the same traffic.

GD uses the WP functionality for comments.
You normally can set it in such a way that non-logged in users can comment too. But with Whoop you can’t, and I am assuming you are using Whoop.
I’ll get Giri to look at your post too.

Hi Guust, Happy American Thanksgiving and Black Friday! Where we all go broke. 😉

    Yes, using Whoop.

In a perfect world I’d rather reviews be posted only from verified accounts to keep review/competitor spam to a minimum. I’ve had a lot of problems in the past with competing businesses maliciously slamming others. Requiring email validation cut that to a minimum – and also provided owners with data in the event they wanted to take a legal route against the offending party.

Thanks again… Look forward to hearing from Giri. :0

Hello jkirker, Sorry I was working on another theme. I just noticed your message.

The reason I disabled reviews from non logged in users is because all reviewer names linked to buddypress profiles just like yelp. Its not possible when the user not logged in.

Whoop is just a theme. The feature you are asking is a core feature. I’ll ask stiofan to take a look.

    Thanks

Great. I think it’d be a positive change that would be helpful to everyone using the plugin – we all want/need more interactivity… Then an option of linking the reviews with social/fb and posting them to the sites profile upon review or posting would be cool too. 😉
