    Hello,

I have 2 sites running GD on dreamhost on their dreamhost shared plan, both sites are slow, is this due being on a shared hosting plan, my setup for GD, or other plugins, I would appreciate looking into it and your feedback. I’ll post the site info on another post below.

    Hi,

the problem is definitely the blue host shared hosting plans.

    Please read this: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/server-requirements/

    Thank you

    Hi Paolo,

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll give the CloudWays using a DigitalOcean droplet with 1GB a try. Thanks again!

One more question, I see that couldways have a WP plugin for transferring the site over to their servers

    https://support.cloudways.com/how-to-migrate-wordpress-to-cloudways/

When I transfer it I’ll be using the temp url that they gave me when I created the php/mysql APP. My question is; after I test my site using this temp domain, and now I am ready to point my domain to the new server, how do I change that within WP? Is there a WP plugin that can do that url/domain change for me ? (from the temp one to my real domain)

Or do you recommend that I point my domain to the new server first, then do the transfer using my domain as the destination domain.

Or do you recommend another process to transfer the site from one host to another?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

personally I have never used a plugin to transfer a website. I normally do a back up of wp-content and transfer it via SSH or FTP and a back up of the database that I export from the old site and import to the new site via phpmyadmin or similar.

    That’s the easiest way…

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks

I just installed a test copy on cloudways and it is very fast now, thanks for the advice, I’ll be moving the sites there soon 🙂

    Thanks again!
