    Hi,

Updated to GeoDirectory 1.5.6 a few days ago and we’ve lost access to some of the drop-down menu options in the admin area, specifically in the Design section. Can’t change grid options, etc. Screenshot attached. Issue exists in multiple areas (Design>Listings, Search, Detail and Navigation but not in Author tab). Tried all browsers and various devices, only seem to have access on an Android phone and use Chrome browser.

Would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

    Thanks!

    Ray

That is usually as a result of some plugin conflict. Can you post your URL and WP admin details and we will have a look for you.

You should not use any caching other than GD Booster:

But that is not the problem here.

You have 62 active plugins. I suggest you de-activate all the ones you are not using first, see if that fixes it.
Then de-activate the ones you don’t really need.
You’ll find your site running faster too.
If that does not fix it, keep going until you find the offending one.

Let us know how you went.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I understand that the site uses quite a few plugins but most/all active are in use. We are using a plug-in that allows for only certain ones to load on certain pages, but with a somewhat complex news site there are a lot things to add (weather, contests, coupons, classifieds, etc.) and hopefully WordPress is built to handle them.

With a site in production, it’s always a challenge to deactivate plugins to troubleshoot but if that is the best suggestion then we will try it. Just surprised that we would be the only one experiencing inability to access certain drop-down menus in the admin panel after the update. Will make our changes on mobile for now to get them done, then try as you suggested and let you know.

Best practice is to have a clone staging site to troubleshoot.
You could be the only one to report it because you use quite a few plugins that are not that widely used.
Wordpress is built to handle them, it is just that not all plugins are created equal and sometimes interfere with each other. There is often no way to isolate the problem other than what I suggested.

You mentioned also to try GD Booster. I’m sure it will make the directory faster, do you know if it will provide caching for the entire site (assuming we disable/uninstall existing 3rd party caching solution currently in use)? Thanks!

GD Booster is specifically designed to cache GD pages and your normal WordPress pages.
