Is it possible to actually place the entire set of search boxes, including ‘customize my search’ in my menu? Not as a menu option, but inside the boundaries of the menu. Or at least show up on the front page somewhere by default, preferably right below the Top menu?

I would also like to keep the front page completely controlled by the Avada theme unless I can mix the GD theme and Avada theme, without losing the content of the Avada front page.

Maybe with CSS, or is it something that needs to be done by a coder?

I have the Avada theme and I’m using both top and main menu’s.

    Thanks,

You should be able to use the GD>Search widget anywhere you can put a widget.
Then adjust with CSS if required.

Thanks for the reply Guust, but that wasn’t an option.
I was hoping there was another way.

Can I solve the problem by using GD as the front page? It looks like it keeps my menu’s in place but eliminates the bottom content.

Is there a name given to the GD Front page? Maybe I can still use Avada’s
shortcodes if I do it that way.

It would be great if I could somehow just insert some of the GD widgets in the middle of my front page and leave my current content in place.

    Thanks,

there is no way other than coding your own widget area next to menu and adjusting with css like Guust said…

    Thx

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. If I select ‘Set Geodirectory home page
as your home’ and select ‘ show the top, right and content sections of the home page, will this now allow GD to use widgets on the home page or is it stopped by
the Avada template because I’m not using the GD theme?

    Thanks,

Nasc, you are able to add your GD>search widget to your home page as it is, as long Avada gives you a widget area on your Avada home page.
Unless you abandon Avada all together, your header and menu area will not change.
The GD Home Top area is always below the header and menu area of any theme.

This page might help you understand what is part of your theme and what is part of GD:
    http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/layout/

The GDF theme has an area for widgets in the right hand corner, have a look at http://www.bookhinterland.com.au/ (work in progress) where I added a WP search widget, not the GD search widget.

Thanks for making this clear. I think I’ll just stick with the Avada Home page that I’ve created and add a sidebar with a few GD widgets for now.
