Ok, is this feature due to added in later versions?

I have installed an SSL cert to the domain and added the Get Directions field. This works very well, but the original problem still exists:
On the Map tab of a place the ‘Get Directions’ still requires you to enter your location whether using a mobile phone or computer. The question I will be getting is:
If using a mobile phone the location should come from the phones location or if using a computer enter a postcode or equivalent.

Yes that would be possible, but that would not place the search bar over the image.

Thank you for your reply. Yes that sounds about right. I have a SSL certificate that I can link the domain to. I will set it up and test.
