Is there any way to get the listings to display as a list on the bottom of those first two pages?

    Thanks for all the advice!
Unfortunately I have no idea how to go about what you’re suggesting. While I’m well versed in some coding, wordpress is still fairly new to me. I would have to use templates to edit pages like that, right? Is there any way to make it automatically grab the states or areas under the country if I’m on the country’s page? Otherwise I’m not sure how I would edit each individual page to have what I need on it…

Do you foresee any issues with how I have it set up now, with the categories, though? I may just have to keep it that way if I’m not able to set up the locations how I need.

Also, is there any way that a widget that shows top level locations will be available in the future? I’m personally surprised it’s not already a feature, especially for bigger directories that would have hundreds of locations displayed in the popular locations widget. As it is now, there’s no widget that lets you click any location other than city level locations. I’m actually not sure how you’re ever supposed to get to any location pages other than city level locations, other than manually linking them.

I don’t know why, but the titles in the map bubbles are now showing up. I’ve edited the CSS to get the other changes I wanted on it.

And again publicly, in case anyone needs it, I got the search to work by going to GD Tools and then running ‘reload countries table’.

    Thanks for the help!

Alright, so no solution for now? I may go back to our local site and see what happens if I resinstall Geodirectory, and re-enter all the data and settings again, since we’re still in beginning stages of adding data. I’ll let you know what happens then.

Could I get some help on my other question too?:
Our map bubbles don’t have the title of the place in them. I’ve seen some screenshots where the bubbles seem to default have the titles in them, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with ours. How can we add the titles to our map bubbles?

When I searched “test” (which there is two places named Test 1 and Test 2) nothing shows in the results. Also, when I try to use the Distributors dropdown or the category dropdown I get no results for those either.
Edit: Also, when doing the search you said you did, it only returned 3 of the 5 results that should’ve matched that word.

Nevermind, I set it to “always open” and then used some CSS to move it to the left of the main search bar. It would still be nice if there was an option to move that sort of thing into the actual main search bar area, but this is good enough.

I think there’s some confusion on how I’d like the search option to work.
We’d only want the drop down to let the user select one of the choices. But on the end where we add the options we want to be able to choose both.
For example, say our shops sell either Cakes or Pies. Some sell both. With the “select” field, on the back end we could only choose cakes, pies, or both. When someone searches “cakes” on the front end, any shops that sell both cakes and pies won’t show up because their attribute is “both” rather than both “cakes” and “pies”.
The user, when searching, would only have the options to either not filter, or filter by ‘cake’ or ‘pie’.

Is there any other way to achieve searching like this?

I’m not sure how to do that at this time, so I’ll get back with you on that later. We’re looking into getting a demo site set up so that we can let other people access the website easier anyway, and it’ll probably be better to do all that once it’s up rather than now.

For the time being I’ll probably just set the website back up how I had it. Adding the category selector to the main search bar was good enough to get it working close to how we need it.

Could you try a browser other than Chrome to access the link? It’s working fine in both Firefox and IE for me, and I can access it in Chrome by pressing ‘details’ and then ‘visit this site’ (I had to repeat this twice though for it to go through).

For some reason my “GD home page” is only displaying what is listed in the “GD Listing Top Section” widget, and not what’s in any of the Home Page widgets. On the other hand, the page listed as “locations” under permalinks is displaying what’s in the Home Page widgets.
I switched the ‘main’ directory page to the locations permalink for now, but I still don’t see any “transformation” showing locations, just what is listed in the widgets. I also had to switch to using the Home Map widget because the Listing Map wasn’t displaying at all, but the Home Map is giving me an error saying there’s no results. I kept the CPT Categories widget until we can figure out how to show the locations in place of them.
I’ve attached some screenshots of my settings and what the page looks like now. Note that the bottom of the page doesn’t show all the listings like it did when it was set as a ‘listings’/home page.
I also found the “popular locations” widget, but it shows by city and not by top level sorting like countries and then states like we need. It also doesn’t seem to have any sorting properties. Any location pages I click from this widget go to broken pages too.

What you’re saying seems to be that the locations wouldn’t be able to go to Locations > Sublocations like we need anyway? If I have to manually enter the locations through a text widget, there’s no way for me to customize it differently for each country, is there? Because the widget is placed in the template for customization, not each individual page. I could create one large menu that shows everything, but not a menu that only shows the State regions only when you’re in the country of USA.
