I built Initially used the GEO BOLD by itself but then liked the clean look of the genisis theme which is compatible with GEO BOLD. https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/category/themes/
Maybe I have set it up wrong? Maybe would appreciate the help to rectify.
Can you please advise so I don’t make changes that break the site,

Hi Paulo
Its not about using paypal for usd. its about creating a global directory and having that directory priced in a global currency. i.e USD
If i price it in rands it is just a south african directory. Not very appealing to a global audience who trade in Euro / USD / Yen etc…
So our South African friends purchase online and pay in rands. So I simply need the plugin to literally just make sure that it sends the USD price set by me for membership and convert that into a rand value. As the rand is about 13 : 1
This is not about South Africans paying in rands or dollars – this is about payfast processing a payment that is equivalent in rands to the price that was set in USD on the site by me.
Not sure if that clarifies. maybe we can skype ? or mail to discuss further. in my mind it should be fairly simple thing to resolve as its about adding a factor that allows for a conversion.

Hi Paulo
Most people in SA don’t use Paypal and as such Payfast is a great option. I understand the development issue on your side. and as such is there something I have perhaps not thought of? The other payment gateways are they accessible to SA residents?
I have not looked into it deeply as I thought the conversion would be simple. (Static currency rate Updated by the user?) so It simply takes the USD amount and multiplies by a multiplier set by the site admin.
Is it possible to create something like that? It would be similar to how prestashop runs its multi curencies
I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Stiofan
From a legality perspective. As long as the revenues are reported here in South Africa no problem. The reason for using payfast is simiply that South African residents are able to use a local payment gateway that operates with local banks.
The only issue is that the plugin does not recognize the base currency of the domain. If it did this and simply converted the USD amount to ZAR then payfast would be able to bill.
I have also contacted Payfast to see if they can assist. This functionality moving forward would be quite important for most jurisdictions.
Please feel free to contact me via e-mail to take this discussion further

Hi Kiran
I understand the legality from Payfast’s side. However My directory is for customers all over the world so I can price it in Rands as that would only be applicable to South Africa.
So my next question is probably along the lines of who developed the payfast plugin ? Surely there must be a way of noting the currency to payfast so they can convert into rands on their side? Or the plugin converts the USD amount to rands?

Hi Kiran
Thanks so much for your feedback. I have let the guys of the fusion plugin know. In the meantime, I have disabled the plugin and am happy to report that all is working In terms of the checkout.
Next issue is that my site is priced in USD and if I proceed to payfast checkout it takes my USD price and converts the value to Rands via payfast at a 1:1 ratio. Obviously this would be a huge problem from a currency exchange perspective. Is this error on your side or on payfast ? Or do I need to make a change to payfasts backend?
Please let me know so I can resolve this.
Regards
Sieko
