Hi, Stiofan, seems to be working now. I’ll test on a couple more computers.
I still would like to give my hosting support a hard time, I really don’t appreciate incompetent answers. Before I give them hell – can you please confirm that this is a server issue and php.ini settings were related to their setup.
Thank you.
We can’t change the hosting just because of that, sorry. It is considered one of the best WordPress Hostings – Siteground.com. (I have lots of clients there). My preference is WPEngine, but that is not relevant at the moment.
The second point is this – the same client has another project (foodamo.com) running the same GeoDirectory. (We bought 2 licenses from you guys). It is not only the same hosting but the same type of account. And we don’t have this issue on another installation of GD.
Stiofan, can you please do the following if you can:
1. Please summarize the issue with explanations as to what should be fixed and why the offered solution buy the hosting tech won’t work. Just a summary.
2. I will send it to them and will request the escalation to the highest level possible.Thank you.
Elijah. One more thing guys, our main site menu became completely deformed. Some items simply disappeared, megamenu functionality got disabled. If you are testing something, please revert the settings back, or let me know what the change was.
Guys, I don’t want to be in the middle of it, everybody seems to be getting pretty defensive on the issue, while in the end the only thing I need is to have the issue resolved. I don’t want to rewrite your answers and I copy them the way they are to hosting support.
Here is their reply.
This is a PHP and not a server function. You can refer the developers to the PHP manual for more information on how to use the function:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.session-save-path.php
If they are unable to resolve the issue, we would recommend you to consult with a professional developer who can modify the syntax of the test php script session_test.php so that it can work properly with the desired sessions folder.
If there is anything else we can help you with, please contact us again by posting a new ticket.
This reply has been marked as private.I’ll talk to our hosting and will ask to enable it.
P.S. What’s strange though is that we have the same version of GD installed on the same hosting and we don’t have this issue on exactly the same hosting account.
Hi Kor, here is the result of my testing:
1. Switching to default WP theme doesn’t help.
2. Switching to default WP theme AND disabling all plugins besides GD ones – doesn’t help either. Thanks!

Thank you! Thanks a lot Guust, we are almost there.
There is still one part that is not working, and I’m quite sure, it is also css, but I can’t figure it out. When user registers the first time it receives an email with the password and the link to login.
It takes user here: https://allontario.ca/author/millereli2outlook-com/?geodir_dashbord=true&stype=gd_place
(in a case for [email protected])Once you login you see this page: https://imgur.com/a/g76kw8S
I have the same issue with adding places through there – the empty drop-down list.
You can use the same credentials I posted above to replicate.Thank you.
Elijah.P.S. and for some strange reason the topic appears as resolved int he general list of forum issues.
Hi, Kor, I have seen it and still uses recaptcha, right?
This is the point that I was making numerous times in this thread – our previous solution did not use captcha.
I’ll try to rephrase the question – based on your user base experience or user feedback – is there an antispam solution that you are aware of that:
1. Does not use captcha
2. Covers more than just protecting GD – with GD wordpress registration is open to everyone, so spam user creation is possible bypassing the gd form altogether.Thank you.
