    Stiofan,

I followed your link and land on a page containing two files. I copied and pasted the contents of both files and uploaded each in their respective folders. Do I have to place that code snippet somewhere or are you just pointing out what change you made in the file above? Alternatively, your code change works but maybe I need to export and import again to get the assignment of the image on the details page? Let me know what I did wrong? There is no cache plugin, no browser memory all history deleted clean as can be.

    Stiofan,

I have the deepest respect for you and your expert team. I disconnected the logins so that I can learn the specific steps (changes) because I have three sites to update. These changes will be archived on my end so that any attack, hack, or viral infestation does not cripple me and I can restore all changes while your team is sleeping. Please be so kind to forward to me the changes you seek to accomplish and I will make those changes instantly and store a record of those changes so I will never have to worry about bothering your team with this issue again.

    Stiofan,

I made the changes now using one placeholder image. The placeholder image works well except it does not display on the listing details page which diminishes the impact of those unclaimed listings. I uploaded more than 4000 listings so far and the Media Library is perfect.

You offered a bit of code to assign the placeholder image to the listing details page.

    Guust,

OK, but I think I better build every city on my CSV file otherwise the import fails. So I will try the merge after the import.

    Guust,

I’ve learned so many changes. Let’s review:

    1. Stiofan offered a bit of code so that I can use a placeholder image approach and my CSV data rows will presumably import without creating thousands of replicating images in the Media Library, rather just one claim-listing.jpg image can be assigned to each of my designated CSV data rows depending upon the bit of code Stiofan has in mind?

    2. Using Stiofan’s bit of code, I assume you will want me to clean the IMAGE field in my CSV file so there is no reference to any image in each of the data rows I subsequently import.

    3. Using Stiofan’s bit of code, should I designate the placeholder image “prior” to importing the CSV file or does that placeholder image attach itself to all data row listings during import?

    4. I should not create the locations, rather I should wait until local businesses build their listings which is best way to create the locations. The Google Map API uses the long-form spelling of the state, therefore my two-letter abbreviation is not possible. I read your links above, so what if I create a location using the two-letter state and then MERGE and select my two-letter state version will it override the Google required long-form spelling?

    Guust,

You are yet again the best solution and your links are incredible and informative too. Thank you so much.

PS — only for listing which do not have their own images. In my case, I created a category named CLAIM so that I know exactly where all of my CSV import data is assigned just in case that helps.

    Stiofan,

If you could be so kind to assist with a bit of code to utilize the system’s own placeholder image for each listing display including the listing details page then that would be an outstanding solution.

    Guust,

I need a placeholder image every step of the way and on the listing details page. I will have to proceed as previously mentioned.

Each county website has approximately 20,000 local businesses on average. As I upload 1000 data rows at a time in each of those csv files I will go back and spend hours to delete 1000 claim-listing.jpg created by the Media Gallery which is a huge waste of time but necessary to overcome the csv import defect. The csv import should not be creating 20,000 placeholder images for each data row because I am manually uploading that one image into the date folder as Stiofan directed me to do.

Not to worry — I remain optimistic and enthusiastic and I see the mountains ahead to lead me from this valley and I will climb and move forward and I will succeed and after I sell 1000 local businesses their local business listing then I will have enough revenue to fund Guust to fix the csv import defect so that each time I upload the csv file it will never again create 1000 unnecessary images in the Media Library.

Guust, I pause to thank you for your professional guidance. You are my hero as are the entire team of tech experts indeed and I appreciate your help no matter how many images I have to delete each time I upload another csv file.
