Hi Roman,
I have added a different setting for WooCommerce sidebar in the last version of Directory Starter. Seems like that change broke that blog sidebar.
Previously we used a default value of 1 if option not saved in your customizer.
Now it uses 0 as default. We had that blog sidebar setting in previous versions too. In new version we have added a separate setting for woocommerce sidebar.In other words if you have set the value for blog sidebar in previous versions, then sidebar should display fine without any problem. But it seems like you had not set that value. So it used the default value

Hi Nick,
looks like something wrong with that user. Its not returning user id.
I have tried the FTP credentials you provided. But it doesn’t have any files inside.
Can you recreate that FTP? Please test and make sure it has files inside before posting the credentials here.

That looks not ok.
Can you provide login credentials for that user?
As for the widget, its called GD > Loginbox. Just drag and Drop in home page sidebar section.
Sorry for the confusion.
If user logged in it would display the My Dashboard widget. If not it will display loginbox.

And what’s the difference between places and listings?
Listings is the common word for GD related post types.
Places is the default post type
You can have listings like Properties, Jobs etc
Secondly, I just created a test account, as I did for the last example, and there’s no way I can access the user dashboard!
Can you explain which page you are talking about when you mean User dashboard? Are you talking about the backend?
Shouldn’t the login the user to the dashboard, where they view their favorites and listings?
No.
GD has a Dashboard widget. User need to select in the dropdown to redirect listings, reviews or favorites. Please take a look at the widget.
PS: We have a addon called UsersWP. Its in Beta right now. You might wanna try that. Its lightweight buddypress alternative. It has profile and account pages for user.

Guust pointed out that the listings link not getting displayed for user asw9vnel.
I guess it could be a bug.
I need to dump some variables to debug it. Can you provide your site FTP details?
