You cannot have a map with only a few countries shown.
Either you show all countries or one.

Thanks for reporting.As far as I understand it, all sizes may be used to speed up delivery of pages, so you should not delete any images.
If images are deleted from a listing, all versions will be automatically deleted too.I’ll get the developers to confirm.

You can use a membership plugin to give your users different access levels.
It is not possible using GD without modification.
