I updated my development site by replacing
geodirectory-functions/custom_functions.php and
geodirectory-functions/location_functions.php
with the files in the
https://github.com/GeoDirectory/geodirectory/commit/f208efad91813a6cb4ada07f297edc8e27fdb796
as they seem to be the only files which have changed since the 1.6.21 commit.I then added the code snipped as per your link
https://gist.github.com/kprajapatii/868ebcb48ac6b26e340e8f40aeae6fffThe text replacement for the %%in_location%% and %%location%% variables works as described but the %location% tag in the category text description still show “Everywhere”.
E.g. http://new2.kimberley.co.za/places/accommodation/self-catering/
The Category Top description is “Self Catering Accommodation in %location%”
But on the link above still display
“Self Catering Accommodation in Everywhere”Did I miss something?
5 Start review done.
Thanks Kiran, looking forward to the update.
I must say it really looks you guys are serious about giving good support, improving your product, and attending to the needs of your customers.
Hi Paolo
For example with Category Descriptions
We have a place category Accommodation, with a Category description of “Accommodation and Places to Stay in %location%.”
When in default everywhere location this display as http://new2.kimberley.co.za/places/accommodation/
“Accommodation and Places to Stay in Everywhere.”
I would like to to display as
“”Accommodation and Places to Stay in Kimberley & The Northern Cape.
Hotels, Guest Houses, Lodges, Backpackers, Self Catering, Caravan and Camping”For example with Category Descriptions for Yoast
For the meta description I entered “Accommodation and Places to Stay in %%location%%.” in the yoast snipped editor. When a location was picked it displays correctly but on the default location it does not pull through the %%location%%, but display it as blank.
“Accommodation and Places to Stay in .” (Tested with https://technicalseo.com/seo-tools/google-serp-simulator/)BACKGROUND:
The vast bulk of places are in Kimberley, the capital city of our Northern Cape Province. This when in the default everywhere location it will work very well the place category description tag, %location%, and the SEO variable %%location%% could be displayed as “Kimberley, Northern Cape”
I’m converting from Geotheme where the Default everywhere location could be named, and I named it “Kimberley, Northern Cape”Regards
JamesThank You Paolo.
Thanks Paolo!
Working 100%Thanks Paolo.
Damn, this sucks as we used visual composer to build listings using geotheme. We are now testing upgrading to GeoDirectory. The listings in the converted side display fine but can’t be edited anymore.
1) Is there a possibility that this incompatibility might be sorted out.
2) What page builder do you recommend for building places and events. In the back end editor and I also cannot switch between Visual / Text with places and events (nothing happens when clicked), but it work fine for normal posts and pages.
Visual Composer Problem: I cannot swtich to Visual Composer mode in places and events even though they have been ticked in VC Settings
Thanks I tweaked the values and it run through.
