This reply has been marked as private. And, you said
GD is not responsible for the images displayed. GD uses the image sizes setup in WP.
No, this is exactly what GD is not doing. I have wp set for 2000. Yet when I use GD Add Listing to add images to the GD image gallery the GD gallery is showing the image at a completely different resolution than what I have in WP (less than half what I have it set at).
Am I overlooking something? Is there a way to set the image size for images in the GD gallery tabs? Because I’ve looked and found nothing. The only two places I’ve found are in the shortcode builder which doesn’t apply to tabs and in WP/Settings/media.
You said
If you are using the default GD Post Images for the gallery, then, try NOT doing that. Instead make your own decisions about how your site processes and displays images. Stop using the default settings.
Default GD Post Images? What does that mean? I’m not using anything default. If you “heard me the first time” why is the first thing you are saying about something I’m not doing?
I was trying to use the tabs by using shortcode [gd_single_tabs show_as_list=”1″] on the details page. This was so I may use unique tab layouts/settings for each CPT. Isn’t this why GD designed this all this way? Are you saying not to use tabs? If so, then why have that feature?
I didn’t use any default settings. If you “heard me the first time” you would know that I changed the wp/settings/media to 2000. Isn’t that “making my own decisions” enough? It works on VeganLinked.com this way. The only real difference between VeganLinked (where it works) and ThingsToDoInNC (where it doesn’t work) is VL was a conversion with lots of content and the other was not a conversion, it was always V2 (from beta to now).
Then you say:
Remove the photos tab in the Tabs UI and add a custom GD shortcode as a tab.
I already tried this. But, the problem then is I can’t have the photos where I want them because they’ll be outside of the list. And, the gallery wont be using the tab title the same way as everything else in the list. And, last but not least taking the gallery out of tabs would take it away from the flexibility offered using tabs. So, if you “heard me the first time” then why are you not offering a solution to the problem and instead suggesting a workaround that I’ve already tried that don’t fix the problem but takes away features therefore causing more problems?
In the video I posted above you can see I added the shortcode as you suggested. Plus I mentioned this earlier already. For GD Image I used “[gd_post_images type=”gallery” ajax_load=”1″ slideshow=”1″ show_title=”1″ animation=”slide” controlnav=”1″ link_to=”lightbox” image_size=”full”]” But, again, this puts the gallery outside of the tab list, takes gallery outside of tab customization per CPT and loses the theme’s title.
Attached are two images showing what happens using shortcode like I think you’re suggesting which places the gallery outside of the list. I have also tried recreating the entail details page without the list. But, then it loses the lists titles and loses the customization of tabs between CPT’s. I added a third image that shows how the gallery within the Tab UI is correctly.
I understand you “heard me the first time.” But, you still have not offered a solution. So, hearing me the first time doesn’t seem to be enough, therefore, I’m not sure why you would share what you heard.
The only true “fix” is resolving why the images are not adapting the correct resolution when adding them to a GD listing’s GD image Gallery displayed within the tabs list. So please help, what can be done to fix it so when adding images to the GD gallery they are adopting the correct size set in WP/Settings/Media so I can keep using the tab feature and keep the gallery within the tab list?
Alex, I’m using images I shot with my Sony a6500. They originally have very high resolution and I’ve only brought that down to about 2K. I’m not doing anything different (that I’m aware of) than I’m doing on VeganLinked.com where I am not having image resolution drops after adding images through GD Add Listing.
On ThingsToDoInNC.com I have settings/images set to 2000 wide and 2000 tall. I can recreate the details page and add images and the resolution stays great. But, for some reason if I use tabs then the resolution gets knocked down to 738 and the resulting image looks horrible.
I created a video quick to show what I am talking about.
And if you’re going to test it, please test the gallery.
This reply has been marked as private.Man, this just isn’t working. I tried 10,000, 2,000 and nothing works.
I think it’s this specific site for some reason. My other site VeganLinked.com is not doing this. But ThingsToDoInNC.com is.
If you download the image you’ll see they’re titled the resolution they are: nc-rivers-mountains-1-768×432. But, I uploaded 2000 by 1124.
I even renamed the images and then reuploaded them.
I did try 2,000, see earlier where I said
something just isn’t right. I reviewed what you shared. I increased the image size to 2000 to match the size I’m uploading. Then I uploaded some new images and they’re just looking horrible.
I’ll try again though right now.
Also, I’m going to have to remove all the images in every listing because of this and reupload them.
Ok, I guess your documentation is showing the advanced settings for the block editing. However, if that’s true it really probably shouldn’t because block editing breaks forcing us to use classic editor and the “add shortcode” feature which looks completely different. Furthermore, the documentation really doesn’t explain anything where I point it out above.
Therefore, now I see where image size can be set for the gallery. Now I just have to remove images from tabs. Actually, now I’m going to have to remove all the tabs it seems and manually insert each tab as shorcode in the details template. This means I will not have the customization offered by the tabs for each CPT all because I can’t set the image globally to be full. Or, is there something i’m missing here? Is there another way to go about this and set the image full for all images?
What is this? http://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/wp-content/uploads/sites/23/2018/10/images-size-select.jpg
I don’t know what that is? it’s referenced here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/integrations/images/ but it makes no sense.
It says above that “Image sizes are then available in every GD Post Images element” but this isn’t explained beyond that. Maybe that’s what I’m after… Where do I set GD image sizes?
Man, something just isn’t right. I reviewed what you shared. I increased the image size to 2000 to match the size I’m uploading. Then I uploaded some new images and they’re just looking horrible. I don’t recall ever having this problem before with V1. I understand you’re saying GD is not an image processor. But, at the same token, these listings that GD enables us to create have the ability to upload through GD. And, GD even stores images somewhere different that WP does.
