    OK, here’s more:
I mentioned above that clicking the front-end “Edit this Post” did not trigger any more FB posting (I assumed FB had a post limit).

    Well, apparently they don’t.

I just changed GD > Business Settings > Field: Category (taxonomy) > Category Display Type > back to “Ajax-chained” and guust what? All listings in all CPT’s posted again to my Facebook page.

Looks like either I cornered a little bug in the system, or perhaps something got corrupted in my install.

I’ve disabled the spinning pre-loader (an Enfold feature), but no change.

The problem most definitely occurred after starting my last support thread linked above. Perhaps Guust is right and I shouldn’t have started a new thread, but we’re here now.

    Here’s a breakthrough:
After testing with preloading-spinner disabled, I changed GD > Business Settings > Field: Category (taxonomy) > Category Display Type > back to “Multi-select” from “Ajax-chained”, then attempted to edit a listing from front-end. Problem persisted, but at least it loaded the page right away (however the blue status bar in Safari showed the page was stalled for about a minute or 2).

The real breakthrough was when I checked my Facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/locallogicpr)
Low-and-behold, all my listings in all CPT’s had just been reposted! That just might explain the server delay. I scrolled down the FB page and there was a second set of listings from only my “Health and Wellness” CPT. The first lot timestamped “Just now”, second lot timestamped “17 minutes ago”, which would correspond to the 2 times I clicked the front-end “Edit this Post” link. Not sure why the second lot was just of 1 CPT.

I kept scrolling down and saw a third set from 8 hrs ago when i tested at my office–this time all the listings in all CPT’s were posted. Scrolling down more, I see another set of all listings from my all CPT’s from 12 hrs ago (again at my office).

Just before submitting this update, I tested clicking the front-end “Edit this listing” link again (I’m a sucked for an active FB page, lol), and nothing was posted. I’m assuming FB has some sort of posting limitation since I noticed the most recent group of postings was just shy of the whole alphabetical listing.

I have not re-imported any listings since about 24 hrs ago (see below), so I have no idea why my listings are repeatedly being posted to my FB page (aside from apparently being triggered by clicking on “Edit this listing”).

So back to the original sequence of events, after Guust changed the Category Display Type setting from Multi-selct to Ajax-chained (Re: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/map-icons-keep-reverting-to-parent-category-icon/), I did deleted all gd_business listings and re-imported to see if the icon problem was fixed. I did the same for a few other CPT’s but not all.

I hope you this lengthy post help you pinpoint the problem.

I spoke too soon about the GD social importer causing the hang-up (my assumption). I’ll start a new support thread.

Thanks for the explanation Paolo. I’ll have to redesign a few icons to be a little more generic.

btw. The hanging problem was due to the GD social importer plugin (I keep forgetting to disable it when I import my listings). It was quite busy posting the imported listings in the background.

Hmm. Now my site hangs when trying to edit any listings–even CPT’s that have not been changed to ajax-chained. I was able to play around with editing a listing once (getting a feel for ajax-linked selections), but attempting to edit another listing caused hang-up.

I tried changing GD > Business settings > category field > back to multiselect but that did not solve the problem.

All I did was delete all gd_business listings and reimport. When I hit the back button after listing edit attempt hangs, sometimes the previous pages takes a while to load, then the site is snappy again (except still hangs on listing edit).

    Any idea what has happened?

OK, I see this working now. I initially chose “multiselect” since I found “ajax-chained” to be confusing to use.

However, I tried csv import again and the default_category fields are not importing properly. This means I’d need to edit each post to correct the default category.

This problem would relate to the last support topic I made:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/cannot-import-expire_date-package-id-etc/

Can you please check into whether or not importing default_category from csv should work?

I’ve imported my listings quite a few times so far and there are 3 important fields that do not import for me for some reason: 1) expire_date 2) is_featured 3)package_id

All other fields import just fine (including many custom fields, so I figured this was just a limitation of the import/export feature.

I’ve been able to work around the secod 2 by temporarily changing my default package type to one that matches the type of listings in my csv (so far all my listings are of the same packge type).

I can upload a csv if you’d like to investigate this, but if this is a potential bug I think it’s time to move this to a new support thread.

Thanks for solving the mystery. I had just imported about 120 listings at once with the new GD Import/export feature. I didn’t know the Social Importer worked this way (I thought new listings were only posted if imported with Social Importer). The only thing I did out of the ordinary was manually copy and paste the expiry date for most of the listings via PHPmyAdmin.

Yes, please clear the list trying to post to FB. Is this something that you can tell me how to do for future reference?

I’ll ensure SI is disabled when I import a large list. Luckily I haven’t promoted my FB page yet, otherwise I might have some unhappy likers.

A few questions come to mind related to this post:
    1. Can the GD Import/export function be made to automatically (or optionally) bypass Social Importer to avoid this problem?
    2. Can Import/export be updated to include listing expiry date data? This would be extremely helpful to avoid back-end database work in cases where pre-existing paid members are imported into a new GD installation.

Menus edits are working awesome now, thanks.
However, I just noticed that I am now unable to edit or upgrade listings. It’s possible that this problem is related to your fix Stiofan. Can you investigate before releasing the next release?
    Logins should be the same.

I’ve rebuilt the menu. When doing so I noticed it loading slower and slower as the menu items piled up. When I got near the end of adding all the items, saving resulted in the menu page nearly stalling, then showing no items (at least not a white screen).

As I recall, this is the same behaviour that eventually led to the white screen upon saving.

If I deactivate GD, the menu saves rapidly and does not act glitchy.

This is a problem for me because if I have to deactivate GD to work on my menu, I loose all my listing’s package ID settings and expiry dates as per https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/all-prices-and-payments-settings-reset-when-payment-manager-plugin-disabled/

My Google page speed score is also hammered (especially on mobile) when GD is active. https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Flocallogic.ca%2Fpowell-river&tab=desktop

Is there a problem with my install or database that is causing these problems?

The menu page I’m referring to is here:
    http://locallogic.ca/powell-river/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

I’ve tried clearing cache in Firefox and the problem remains.

Please also check the post I made a few minutes before your last. Now none of my pages will load if I deactivate GD Prices and Payments.
If the menus are saving fine on your end (strange!), can you verify that no pages load if GD payments module is deactivated?

Interesting. I noticed just now that pages will not load (white screen) when GD Payment Manager is deactivated. Back-end still works fine.
This seems to be a new development (so to speak) as I have tested beforehand will all GD plugins disabled and the site worked (including Main menu saves).

This is behaviour (system broken) is exactly what you said would happen in my previous support thread if disabling Prices and Payments did not revert all my listings back to the default Free listing as the plugin is programmed to do.
    Thread here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/all-prices-and-payments-settings-reset-when-payment-manager-plugin-disabled/

After your explanation in the thread above, I have not bothered to do any further database work to bulk-update/correct my listings’ expiry dates and packages via PHPMyadmin export/import (planned to do this after troubleshooting other issues with iPad drop-down menus sticking open with or without GD activated).
HOWEVER I have done database correction (via PHPMyadmin export/import) approximately around the time this menu problem started (about 2 weeks ago).

I’m beginning to think that bulk updating listing expiry dates and package ID’s via PHPMyadmin export/import is somehow the root cause of all my menu problems.

Perhaps meddling around with PHPMyadmin to bulk-update my listings has caused unanticipated problems.

Do you have a way of verifying this possible cause?
