Yes I did notice that in the URL. It’s just inconsistent. It seems like there may be a bit of a conflict when using the “Near Me” and location switcher together.
Thank you.
However, I do not “set” the location to San Francisco. Upon first entering, I am asked for location permission. Then I am redirected to San Francisco.
From there, I try to search, and I get zero results. Also, in the menu, the location that was previous set on redirection with geolocating(which was San Francisco) is lost. And the location switcher says “Change Location”. The home button(logo) also is linking to the default home page – not the location page that I was just redirected to.
If I press the back button and then do the search again, I get this URL:
https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_place&s=+&snear=&set_location_type=3&set_location_val=3&sgeo_lat=&sgeo_lon=And in the menu, the location is still set to San Francisco. And the home button(logo) is linked to the location page (https://wpgeo.directory/supreme-directory/location/united-states/california/san-francisco/).
This inconsistent behavior can be frustrating so I think it should be addressed somehow. Thank you for taking the time to check this out.
Okay, in the meantime, can you take a look at the note on the demo site? Maybe that’s somehow related to the issue I’m seeing as well.
On the demo site, once the location is set to San Francisco, if I just hit the search button. I get zero results. If I go back(with the browsers back button), then hit the search button again, then results appear. Shouldn’t results load on the first attempt?
Hmmm, well that’s strange. The error is gone on my end too now. 🙂
Hi Paolo,
Thank you for your response. I’m working on the SSL issue and found another issue with the stylesheet. Maybe that is causing a problem. But I wanted to discuss this further to see if I am missing some sort of functionality of geodirectory.
Stiofan worked up a script for me to add so that location is loaded when someone visits the site. The popup doesn’t happen – just the browser permission. The default way, a visitor would allow location permission from the popup, then depending on the browser, they may get another popup from the browser as well. My site will automatically load the browser popup and that enables the location. Maybe this is causing an issue. https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/location-pop-up/page/3/

Also, on my site, even if the location is allowed, once someone tries to search, location permission is requested again – when it was already shared on the home page.
I am trying to get this to work because I want people to be able to just click the search option, without the need to enter specific content. Then the results that load, will be all of those that are near by that match their search type(eat, see, shop, etc). I hope that makes sense.
Thank you.

I’m sorry Stiofan. I’ve tried to find the css to implement the height of the scroll but I can’t figure it out.
This is the closest I could find to expand the box options, but it has no effect on the scroll: .geodir-chosen-container-single .chosen-drop
Help? Thank you.
Thank you Stiofan. I really appreciate that!
I see the change in the mobile, so that is great. But for the desktop, the drop down list only shows 5 at a time. To see the remaining option(6th) the user needs to scroll and the “please wait” screen causes a slight delay. Can the desktop dropdown be expanded to show 6 options as well on default that will eliminate the need to scroll and the extra delay?
Thank you again.
This reply has been marked as private.Hi Stiofan,
I just tried to change the count from 5 to 6 but that doesn’t seem to affect anything. I’m not sure if I’m doing it right.
I would like the drop down options to show a maximum of 6 options instead of 5 site wide, both on the desktop and mobile.
