Thanks. This worked perfectly. Might be worth adding this post into the documentation. Would have saved me quite a lot of time if it had been there.
Thanks. I just looked into WP SPam Shield support to see if they had anything to say about this.
The other time something similar came up was when a plugin modified the WP Login/registration system – see comment below.
I was wondering whether wpgeodirectory also modified the core WP Login/Registration system as well?
Also it would be great if you could have a sticky post somewhere with known conflicts. Thanks
Just posting a follow up here in case anyone else has a similar problem. This situation ended up being caused by a plugin conflict, and not a flaw in WP-SpamShield.
The affiliate plugin is using and modifying the WordPress login/registration system, and they are doing it in a way that bypasses some of the functionality and registration hooks, which is what’s causing the problem.
The way things are implemented in the other plugin, there’s nothing that can be done in WP-SpamShield to bridge the gap.
Everything I do is done on Thesis apart from this directory site. I don’t really want to spend the time devoted to learning how to use Genesis especially when I think it is nowhere near as easy to use as Thesis.
I suspect it is easier than you think to integrate it. Do you have documentation that talks through how to integrate a theme? And I will do it myself or get a developer to do it for me. Thanks
Neither do it as bulk. They do it individually. It’s a pain. I would rather the ability to then go through add add the latitude and longitude on a post by post basis.
Although to be honest I don’t mind how long it takes for the import to work so long as it does. For 100 restaurants or 100 hotels to go and look up those longitudes and latitudes and then add them to the spreadsheet is time consuming anyway and I would rather my server took the load. Even if it meant I could only upload 10 at a time.
Can I turn this question into a feature request? I can’t be the only person who thinks finding longitudes etc is a pain.
Your recaptcha add on doesn’t stop spam comments elsewhere on the site and in principle I hate recaptchas. Mainly because I never seem able to do them. Do you know why it is breaking registration? Maybe I can ask WP Spam Shield to look into it. Thanks
This reply has been marked as private.Thanks. It appears as though something strange happened with my site where the plugin was in a folder called geodirectory2 so none of my extensions were working. Should be good to go now. Was going slowly mad for the best part of a day!

Also I seem to have a default location but I can’t figure out how to make the area larger than just the small town. There doesn’t seem to be a default setting area, but maybe I need to have the multilocation add on installed?
So I get an error of Please choose city of Ludlow only. I really want to be able to do this for the county.
Thanks

I changed the blog page from the settings but that meant that the front page no longer worked so I am now adding in a widget on the home page for the map. It would be nice if the default theme could include a separate front page for that widget.
Many thanks. As an extension to that, how do I get a blog page working with blog posts rather than places?
Any ideas re the premium listing?
