Ok thanks. The search functions have always been set up the same (to be able to search by location or listing title on homepage, and location or keyword on other sidebars on the site). These functions have always been the same since site start but its just that when i recently updated it has shifted the search bar across to the left. I dont want to change any of the search functions from what they currently are just the position of the search bar on the homepage back to central alignment?
Sorry for delay! Not sure what the default search field is set at but as long as the user can search by location (either by entering their town/ postcode manually or by selecting location services ‘near me’) and to be able to search by key word or contents of the listing titles (which is the search option home homepage accessed by clicking the little cog style button). Thanks
After a lot of faffing about i found it. Yesterday it was showing the old licence page under GD > Updates with no option to enter licence keys which is why i was unable to update anything using the force update plugin. Today it shows option to enter licence keys (not sure if one of your guys updated it when they checked the site?). Once i’d entered licence keys for all of the plugins this still showed as unable to auto update newer versions. Went to Dashboard > Updates and clicked ‘Check Again’ and it brought them all up. Ran Force Update Plugin again and updated them all. Deactivated plugin and all sorted now (only change was it reverted payment method to USD instead of GBP but easy to change!).
Hopefully that will help anyone having the same problem and as computer illiterate as me!
Thanks for advice. Will now update the site in full- fingers crossed you don’t hear from me again today!
Thanks. Nearly there now (have found downloads page!). Do i need to delete the old plugin (or rename- in which case how?) to allow download of update as cannot do it because folder of same name (current outdated version). And i don’t need to retain any settings from the current one it will just automatically have the necessary settings as current site on the new plugin?
Also i’ve not updated to a new version of the site since i took over day to day running because i am worried that any updates may make changes to the site that i have issues with (in case you hadn’t noticed i’m not a professional web person!). I guess updating it just fixes any bugs etc and wont change anything on the site that would affect use as it is at present?
Thanks
This reply has been marked as private.Hi Kiran/ Paolo,
Thanks for getting back to me. I followed the instructions on the latter post last night but did not seem to make a difference.
Hopefully updating to the newest version will solve the problem but i cannot work out how! Is it this page (https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/payments-manager/) but its trying to charge me and i thought plugins were included in the membership of which i have an annual one i renewed last night? Please advise but i assume this is just downloaded and installed to the site and will replace the older version? Will it retain all the settings/ data that the current version has?
Thanks
Also (may as well put it all on one support request to save time and many replies!). I have now found the licence keys (i think) under my Purchase History. Are these the plugins and related licence keys to plugins i uses on my sites? In which case it says they are all inactive? Do i need to activate these plugins and link to the relevant site in order for them to be able to be updated properly and resolve the above issue with the LiveryList site. Sorry, i am unsure how the process works with the plugins and licence keys- perhaps you could explain in layman terms! Thanks!
Additional info– i assume from looking through the forum it is related to this issue (https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/missing-update-notifications/). It actually cropped up that i had this issue in November with another site run on exactly the same theme and plugins and that was resolved by the original developer of the site updating and changing the licences etc but i no longer use him for support. I have downloaded and installed this plugin as advised with the previous problem for the other site. I have then selected all plugins and chosen to ‘Update’. Some say they have updated, others say “Update package not available” (assume this means they were already up to date?). It says everything has updated. I have then disabled the force update plugin but it has not made any difference and the payment process still returns the user to the homepage….?
It has not asked for any licence keys at any point . I have no idea where i’d find my licence keys or even if they are up to date as i see there is a new system in place. When the web developer updated the other site last time he said “Had to carry out a huge theme update, license amendment and then all plugins forced to update this morning” which resolved the issue and its not recurred so guess this may be part of it too?)
Please advise. Many thanks
Ok thank you- will do. However the site was completely updated a few weeks ago- all plugins etc- at the request of moderators on here to the most update it could be when this error occurred the first time to see if we could resolve it. I am unable to retest the issue as cannot recreate it (it works fine when i test it) so will go back to the client and check the outcome. Thanks
This reply has been marked as private.Hi Stiofan, thank you. I have changed the input to number data type (was just text box previously) and have requested all users to change so will see if this makes a difference. If not i shall DM with admin access. Thanks again
Thanks Stiofan, is there any way to make another package that was able to have a banner across as the featured ones do. or that would feature higher up results than the other existing listings (i.e the featured current show first and have a ‘featured’ banner across. Is it therefore possible to have another tier which shows above the featured listings and has a banner across that can say ‘premium’ for example) ? Thanks

January 8, 2017 at 8:32 am in reply to: Search function showing 'No Results' for various locations even when there are? #338682An update- search limit was 40 miles so should include any in Bristol, Somerset (how now increased it to 100 miles so is showign results for other locations it was not previously but still none for bristol). However, when i set radius to unlimited it shows results for Bristol but nearest results are over 3,000 miles away so it is not searching for Bristol UK but Bristol seemingly in Indiana US!? If i search a location right next to Bristol UK it brings up results but not Bristol itself- any ideas why it would be searching abroad over a UK location as i’ve never had this issue before? Is there a setting to limit searches to the UK?
January 7, 2017 at 3:09 pm in reply to: Search function showing 'No Results' for various locations even when there are? #338495Thanks for that, that gives me some idea as to the issue. However, it has previously shown results for this location (i.e those closest to Bristol in ascending distance even if 10, 20, 50 miles away as the ‘closest’ result). If it is a case of reslts being limited by a distance radius (which i did not think there was set up but may have added one or changed this setting to a default on the recent updates (?) How would I amend this so it shows results for any location by distance, irrespective of how far away as previously it has just shown an open ended number of listings in distance order form any location? Thanks
