Hello Alex. “Why do you have multiple locations with the same name? The answer is because those fire departments are located in areas who’s names are cities and towns with the same name or very similar names. The Data on the site USFDins.com has been imported from the United States registry of Fire Departments. These are the names “they” have chosen and their legal entities.

Similarly, a “State” within the U.S. in a particular trade located in different States will hold a business license with the same name or very similar names.(possibly not so with Corporations) If then for example, I have Contractor Events and there are ten companies across the U.S. with the similar names with the first three or four words (or is is character count?) that are the same, it is going to make selecting the proper company to link to difficult for this Administrator or an associate staff member.

One consideration that I have not tested is if as a “non-super admin” if the selection of Companies is narrowed to just the logged in users name. I may be chasing my tail here in not having tested in that fashion. My testing was in part to, after the site is ready, start posting Events for the fire departments. Kind of hard to do if I have to do it in the fashion that I was using.

I am going to set up a job request to see if the number of characters displayed can be expanded or if another column of data or columns of data can be displayed in the business linking selection process as it applied to events linking to the business owner to include City and State. I believe this would be very beneficial.

And, in another point. I have two event sites. We will be importing nearly 1000 events per day! I have noticed that there are many venues with similar or the same names also.

And, even thought I have not until just now thought about it.. what if someone has many franchises and each franchise has it’s own location but may only be allowed by contract use the “Franchise name”… Will the Franchise owner know to put down “Franchise name – id?”

I thank you for the question and I hope that I have in someway answered correctly and with respect.

    Kind regards,

Yes, in hind site.. I am “as super admin” adding in events to test. And, as the “subscriber” when linking it may pull other data.. do not know.

But in my instance if make is a little difficult to determine which West Point fire department I want to help in connecting events.

At https://cslb.ca.gov, a contractor site, there are only about 300,000 active contractors. Nationwide about 2 million or more. I wonder if it is a feature I should spend time on is all..

? wow.. a serious flaw Paolo. The bounce rate would be enormous and the quite subscription rate too. Too time consuming for the end user trying to link events. Major bummer! 🙁

I have whitlisted the ips as suggested for the CDN.

Regarding Visual “initial appearance” “What happened to displaying listing in an area based upon the users location? It used to be that the map would display listing in a local areas.

As I also use this on other sites to display listing near events. Such as Restaurant, Hotels and Resorts, it is important to know if this feature no longer works as it did in the past.

That having been said, I would think that the map would zoom to display fire departments “in my local area” without having to click several times to have them display visually.

Also, the experience for people visiting/coming into our community area that want to know where fire departments are…they will have to perform many clicks to get a visual idea?

More problems. Now CTP post “Fire Department” are all going to 404. I have disabled all plugins except GD’s and still site will not work. Going on week two.

I found to problem! In the Gedir > Multi-locations Setting > Section Settings > “Load More Limits” the setting was 20. I raised it to 60 and now the links to listings are working once again. Please close thread as resolved.
