Yes, I’m currently using geomywp for this but I was hoping to one day show one map with all members, listings and posts one day.

If I use the plugin to get a geo coordinate, could I then somehow use geodirectory to display these? if so, how?

Will there be any plans to allow buddypress members to enter their location in their profile and then allow admins to display a list of members on a map?

    thanks, justmark.

Doing it programmatically would be best since I’m racking up thousands of locations.

Sorry, not meant to confuse. Here’s what I need, I’m pretty sure it’s similar to what greg wants.

I’ll frame as a user story. Maybe that will help:

As a network admin, I would like to be able to add locations, countries, cities and places as well as any custom post types to the network admin site (the main site on the network) and share these amongst all subsites on the same network. to keep it simple, the option to share should be a switch at the global level (all places, locations etc). This is so I can share one db of content amongst many subsites (on the same multisite install).

As a subsites admin, I would like to login to my own site on the network and on the admin panel only see the ‘places’ and any other custom post type options set up by the network admin (i.e hotels etc). Using these custom post types will allow me to add my own to the global database without being able to edit the original globally shared items or any other site’s items.

As a subsite admin I would also like the ability to choose whether to share custom post type (i.e places) content globally or only on their site. (maybe make this an option that the network admin could enable or disable)

Extra unicorns and rainbows if you gave us:
    – The ability for the network admin to give rights to subsite user types (admin, author etc) to edit globally shared content alongside their own would be awesome.
    – the subsite admins the ability to choose which countries, regions, and post types to show on their sites.

Also, was going to mention that the previous version I had installed did not recognize subsites so all locations and places did show up on subsites.

It wasn’t intended to work with multsite before so maybe that it might be best to stick with that version as a starting point.

Greg, I just downloaded and installed the latest beta version (found in downloads if you’re an advanced member). I noticed that it does now support Multisite installations like Stiofan says. It seems to do this by adding the subsite’s prefix to the table geodir_post_locations and places. This is technically a true multisite supported plugin. However, our needs are a bit different as we want one shared set of locations and places amongst all subsites. In my case, I think the ability to allow people to update the master db from their install would be a nice bonus.

Let me know if you come up with anything. I’ll keep digging as well in the interim. This may end up being a custom job that would deviate from the core.

I also keep getting: Undefined variable: pagenow in /site-path/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-admin/admin_hooks_actions.php on line 56

I have disabled all plugins but can’t get it to go away.

FYI I’m getting an error when adding a new place in a multisite sub site. The “place information” section:

Undefined property: stdClass::$gd_placecategory in /sitepath/wp-content/plugins/geodirectory/geodirectory-functions/taxonomy_functions.php on line 1136

    all installed locally.

I’m actually very interested in solving this same issue.

In my case, I want one DB of all the listings to share amongst all the subdomain sites.

Ideally, they could still get access to the post types and add their own which would then feed into the core db tables and share amongst the rest of the site but i’d settle for the initial share for now.

@greg, have you made any progress or have any leads as to the first place to start?
