Hi Vikas,
No, it’s not working for me and I don’t know why until now you can’t still access my site when everyone else can.
I also reported search errors on the other thread. It’s either no results or the same ONE listing shows up if you search by location on my site. I tried searching for locations that is in my database and this error happens.
Hi Paolo,
I understand exactly your point. The problem is I was told differently. I asked ahead of time before moving forward if GD will have SIMILAR OR BETTER geolocation features like weedmaps or restaurantplease and Vikas confirmed it will.
Please see this thread:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/geolocation-features/
He said “yes, for sure”.
Hi Vikas,
I posted a thread when I found out that nearby listings don’t appear:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/how-to-show-nearby-listings/#post-6213You confirmed that geolocation will have similar or better features like the directory sites I shared here (weedmaps and restaurantplease) that’s why I went ahead and hired a developer to make a custom plugin for my GD site. He is almost done with the plugin.
Can we still expect geolocation features similar to weedmaps or restaurantplease in the next or upcoming releases?
Yes, I’m on it and it’s driving me nuts. I tried adding that advanced search option (customize my search) to have a distance radius option but it didn’t work either.
Let’s wait for the developers to clarify this. I hope we’re both wrong.
I think specifically selecting a city filter should display the listings in that city first plus listings nearby.
In addition, geolocation should automatically display the listings in the user’s location everytime he visits the site and display the listings nearby as well.
I was not completely aware that GD doesn’t have this functionality this until now. I have posted several sample directories that has geolocation and I thought GD will be at least the same or even better.
Here are some location-based directories again:
http://www.weedmaps.com
http://www.restaurantplease.com
http://www.yelp.com
http://www.wehireagents.comAnd many others – all show local (if available) with nearby listings based on the users location. Some even offer distance radius sliders like restaurantplease.com
Thank you, purpleedge? Is that for sure? I envisioned GD to work like most directories with geolocation – show local listings first in the center of the computer screen based on the user’s location and also display listings within a certain radius so the user won’t see an empty site if there are no listings in the user’s exact location.
It’s like saying show me listings in Los Angeles and all listings 50 miles around it. If GD can’t and won’t ever have this functionality, I am afraid I need to find and use another solution.
It doesn’t make any sense to have a directory only to show 1 or Zero listings to the user because he is in a city where there are no listings when there are hundreds a few miles away from him. It completely defeats the purpose of combining geolocation and multilocation. Users should not be required to change to everywhere just to see nearby listings. I can understand if he wants to see listings in the entire state or California or the entire USA or the entire planet, then switching to everywhere makes sense. I am merely talking about multi-cities or nearby cities here that are a few miles apart.

That’s a nice site. I like the geolocation welcome alert and universal search at the header.
Thank you, Paolo. I also provided my site creds that you asked for on the other thread. 🙂
Listing comparison addon where users can compare listings with custom fields side by side (e.g., price comparison).
