Thanks – feel free to close the ticket. The solution really is to change to the events extension and view by upcoming rather than expire on date.
Thanks both – yes wanted to avoid the plugins to create the 301 redirects. It was more whether the listings (not events) were able to have a different trigger that defines whether it is included within the category listings rather than those published.
I’m going to look to change to events as I agree this would be a better way forward.
Many thanks again
Ok the problem is that all of our listings have an expiry date set, so eventually they will all result in 404 errors
We promote every listing that is featured as well across social media and therefore all of those links to the site profiles will result in a 404. What we’d ideally like is for listings to be accessible but not listed. How can we do that?
It looks to use Braintree – should this be something that can be implemented?
Hi Stiofan – it’s to make a reservation but a payment will need to be taken. We have WooCommerce installed but as a separate entity within the site and it is something that we would like our listings to receive payments for. An example is like on GrubClub – https://grubclub.com/zaad-dinner-club/zaad-dinner-club-mansaf-at-the-good-hope-cafe-in-ladywell-lewisham/11517
Thanks Kor – From understanding, with Webmaster tools you can request a force fetch and it should speed the process up to a couple of days. Will hopefully see some changes in the coming weeks.
Many thanks
Hi Kiran
This is awesome news, we are very keen to implement into the site. When is the next release due?
Hi Paolo – Just checking if there is any luck with this one?
Sorry for the delay – have been overseas. No it’s not premium you can get the free version to work with. The only potential premium is ACF.
Hi Stiofan
I deleted all of the _wpt_short_url keys in the database and nothing has changed. I have added 2 new listings and it’s the same problem.
Are you running this through the front end or the back end of the site? I am doing this on front end and every time the URL is broken…
No afraid not – the one you tested (Cobham) was fine but try Denbies.
Yes that one works fine but if you go into admin and look at WP to Twitter and repost through there, it does not work. See screenshot
Feel free to use the new one, Denbies…
Sorry Kiran that all seems fine – it was happening on the front end but maybe a blip.
Stiofan – it is still not automating to Twitter… I have tried with https://www.popupup.com/popup/united-kingdom/surrey/dorking/pop-up-event/denbies-wine-estate/ and it came back with the URL https://www.popupup.com/popup/united-kingdom/greater-london/london/denbies-wine-estate/
It may be to do with ACF? I had to upload the ACF which may have been a conflicting plugin possibly but not sure how that relates with permalinks?…
Hi Stiofan – unfortunately the break in ACF has made one of the other issues reoccur as a result of uploading a new copy – https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/date-fields-saves-in-2022-every-time-listing-is-edited/
I believe Kor was handling this particular query. Will need a permanent fix to prevent occuring on updates. If need be, I can add hook but I am unsure what the problem was exactly.
Many thanks
