Thanks Stiofan, that will help.
Now that I know where it is coming from it’s not so confusing, but since GD is sending the email (?) maybe a local timestamp would be a useful addition to the email.
I agree with Paolo, there are more important things that are stopping me from using GD.
Hi Stiofan, you should be able to get the country and region from the settings used in Admin, see attached image.
If I have default country enabled then APPEND that to the search string, if I have Default Region enabled then append that to search string.
Free users can only have default city so always append default region and country.
i.e. “Newport” + (, Default Region) + ( , Default Country)
August 14, 2014 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Search custom post types from another custom post type #12052Hi Brian,
“Search near” uses Google to find the distance from the “Near” location and returns all results, unfortunately limited to any current location filter. But if there is no location filter it returns all listings – I think within the admin defined radius, regardless of the listing’s city.
Yeah, searches are confined to a CPT.
Fortunately Enfold has a global search!
I meant the directory admin, not a payer. 🙂
August 14, 2014 at 3:55 am in reply to: Search custom post types from another custom post type #11996I thought stars was asking if he found a “Theatre” – CPT, which was located in Sydney and he then did a Search Near Sydney for a “Bar” – CPT it would find them.
Or, even if he found a Theatre filtered in location Sydney, he could then also see Bars in Location Sydney – but only in Sydney, which might exclude areas right next door to Sydney.
Must admit I’m getting a bit confused by all this! 🙁

Hi Guust,
Do you know if the next release has better handling of categories and sub-categories? Specifically…
1. Is it possible for a listing to set a sub-category as their default category?
2. Is the display of category and sub-categories now hierarchical, like below…?There is a bug fix for this in the next release, since we have been waiting 4 weeks for this release I guess it will be coming some time in the next 4 weeks???
Honestly, the only problem I see with having 18 prices, is a lazy site admin that doesn’t want to go through the hassle of creating them. 🙂
No, I think a price management page that doesn’t have any filter or sorting capabilities would be a bigger problem? 😉
Hi Guust,
Yeah maybe GD is just forwarding info from Paypal? A local date and time would be handy though?
Hi Reena, my site isn’t public yet and I just tested again searching for “Newport” and it found nothing until I put in “Newport, NSW”
Stiofan, please see this post…
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/listings-not-showing-up-for-certain-locations/#post-11758
My site is restricted to one country and one state, NSW, when I do a “Search Near” GD should automatically add “, NSW, AUSTRALIA” (my default region and country) to the parameters sent to Google.
Slightly off topic, but with 11 CPTs you might want to have a look at this…

Hi Brian,
I first complained about this 3 months ago, and various times since…
https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/breadcrumb-bug-gd-1-0-2/#post-1993
I have since added the location switcher for switching the city only, and added a link in my menu “All Listings” which points to site/location/ and resets the location filter, and added the city name to all listing headers, so hopefully I have minimised likely confusion and frustration.
But my site is for a very small geographic area, so the GD location filter functionality probably doesn’t suit it very well.
Thanks Stiofan, looking good now!
