Thanks Paolo,
I actually came across this plugin that might be able to do it? As soon as I have a spare minute I’ll have a look and report back.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/category-posts-in-custom-menu/
The WP menu manager is a pain, especially when the menu gets big, so another solution might entail going to a page with the GD categories listed and use that as a navigation aid.
It’s completely unnecessary when the site is restricted to a country, region and/or cities.
Thanks for your help Guust.
It was working good for me in the last version, this one is stuffed for me!
I’d like to retire to FNQ one day, a few sand mites up there have some of my blood that I want back 🙂

I don’t know how you have your backend set up, or what regions and cities you have set as defaults?
1. OK, you don’t get the error, I get it every time, I’ll post login details in the next message so you can see what I have configured.
2. Sorry, your site does the same.
3. OK
3.3 No, it doesn’tI don’t know if 20 Adelaide Street Brisbane, or Carina are in your default regions, or cities? If I try to set the address as 20 Adelaide Street I can’t choose Carina, if I choose Brisbane the city gets changed to Carina???
As a user I would have no idea whether I can add an entry or not?
3.4 No, it doesn’t.
See attached images.
No, but I tend to run the backend in IE and the frontend in FF simultaneously. That way I can fiddle in the back and see the effects in the front with different logins.
If you modified code in the geodirectory plugin folders then yes they will be overwritten.
If you want to modify code you need a child theme and you copy the bits you want to modify to your functions.php file, or copy the whole file to a /geodirectory/ folder in your child theme.
Hi Guust,
1. I get that error message EVERY time I edit an address.
If I choose to not show the error message again (no other option really) then I can choose any address anywhere. It will set that address on the map, and will save that address, but not show it on the map – it shows the default address.
2. Even if I choose the correct address and save the record it saves and displays the address incorrectly See Address7.
3. I would prefer
1. No error message, that’s a bug.
2. No Address validation, or validation restricted to Specified Default Region and Specified Default Country and preferably Specified Default Cities.
3. Set address on map to use the Street Address, Selected City, Specified Default Region, Specified Default Country.
4. Address to be saved correctly and displayed correctly.
I no longer have the ability to restrict the address to my chosen country, region and cities. If I choose an address in the UK, with a local city here in Australia, the address validation accepts it!
Please fix.
After I added my Select Cities the error still happens, but I now get an option to not re-display the error, so I can break out of the loop. But it shouldn’t be happening at all.
This is still happening after I have re-added my selected cities, so that is not affecting this lookup.
Thanks Guust,
This is pretty silly since I’m promoting my site as a “LOCAL” directory and I have restricted addresses to my local area.
See attached image…
I want to turn this off!
This is urgent now – also happens in the front end!
Paolo, I noticed that the layout of this widget has changed too!? (More css changes – I was hoping I had finished with those 🙁 )
Sorry Paolo, I’ll take this comment back, I just realised that the single column view for this wasn’t working in the previous version so I couldn’t have styled it! Thanks for fixing!! 🙂
Strangely enough, the Latest Listings I have in my sidebar are sorted In Reverse Order, even though they are not part of the search results??

Hi Reena, It’s a great part of the world, as you know, I’m up the road at Mona Vale – a bit damp today 🙂
Yeah, the search results aren’t sorted, but Latest Listings are ?? 🙂
