Hi,
Apparently its not a bug, please make sure that u have unchecked these 2 checkboxes

[] Show add listing navigation in menu
[] Show listings navigation in menu

in geodirectory > Designs > Navigation > Navigation Setting

Please advise ?

Practically, you indeed can only use custom post type and 2 level of categories in it, which really gives you a 3 deep structure which should be enough.

Regarding ur search query plz provide me ur site url and the search terms u are using and the expected result too.I might need wp-admin too please.

It seems that u didnt specify correct add listing url in ur navigation.
this is a correct url to add place post type listing
http://javaspeaking.com/mandar/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place
and for event
http://javaspeaking.com/mandar/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_event
