Hi Paolo!
Just thought I’d check in to see if Stiofan has fixed the SEO functionality of the Multi-Locations plugin yet?
Thanks.

Yes!
The fix at: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/split-icons-not-shown-on-maps-or-popular-categories/ seems to solve the problem.

It worked for me! Thanks for posting paolo!
Just an FYI – my custom category icons too bizarrely reverted back to the standard red Google pin.
I replaced the geodir_get_term_icon function as noted above to no avail. I also tried updating the category with a different icon to no avail.

Hi Paolo.
I added the meta descriptions for all my cities in
GD >> MultiLocation >> Manage Location >> Edit individually
It works great.
I followed the edit individual tree down to the neighbourhood level and entered my neighbourhood meta description information. When I click SAVE the meta information does not save. It reverts back to what it was before.
As a trial, I took the meta description info out of the parent city and tried the neighbourhood meta description again. Still no go.
Are meta descriptions suppose to work for neighbourhoods or have I come across a bug?
Thanks.
David
Scratch that last post. (Can’t delete posts here.)
I found the META DESCRIPTION with Yoast turned on further down.
Thanks for the reply Paolo.
With Yoast enabled and SEO field data filled in on…
Cities
GD >> MultiLocation >> Manage Location >> Edit individuallyThe site still just displays the meta description from Yoast for the page.
If I disable Yoast, the META DESCRIPTION tag does then work, BUT the “in [name of city]” in the TITLE tag that GD was previously adding disappears.
Ideally like it to work with Yoast and of course having the location in both the title and meta description is essential.
Any thoughts on how I should proceed?
David
Has there been any update on this location based SEO since October?
I discovered that GEO DIRECTORY adds “in [name of city]” to the TITLE of whatever you have on the /location page. Whew!
But the META DESCRIPTION (using Yoast) is the same for no all locations. Adding in a variable such as %%location%% in the Yoast meta description box yields no output.
Thoughts?
Hi Stiofan.
I have a test site up at http://www.theceliacscene.ca
I’m using direct links in my main menu for users to navigate to cities and neighbourhoods directly such as:
http://theceliacscene.ca/location/canada/british-columbia/victoria/
I’m also using tags to group some of the places together and direct links to them such as:
http://theceliacscene.ca/places/tags/vancouver-island/
The problem is that GeoDirectory remembers that I went to first location link (Victoria) and locks me to that location. When I click on the second tag link http://theceliacscene.ca/places/tags/vancouver-island/ I get no search results as Victoria has no items with the tag “Vancouver Island”.
Siofan, I wish to call a /places/tag URL (ie http://theceliacscene.ca/places/tags/gulf-island/) but have the location reset to everywhere first.
How should I do that?
Should I make a separate php file with the following code in it?
unset( $_SESSION['gd_multi_location'], $_SESSION['gd_city'], $_SESSION['gd_region'], $_SESSION['gd_country'] );
Then call the URL?
David
The description was the same as the above post.
No one responded to this request so I took it to Elance.
I had a great experience there with Ahmed Saad with username “Gicoder”.
I’d highly recommend him.
