Ok I wondered about that.
So here’s the scenario.
I want to create a regional landing page i.e. Reno Tahoe
This page features the region with images text etc.
On this page I want to be able to create urls for place categories which visitors can click and go to.
i.e. Image link for attractions when clicked goes to Reno Tahoe attractions.

No offense but we don’t like the location switcher as we only want cities selectable, we’ll only be dealing with about 12 cities and we want to customize how these cities are listed..

On the wpgeodirectory demo page is a link in the menu which displays all locations http://wpgeo.directory/all-locations/ so I am wondering how that is generated, I know it is different than what I am talking about. If I simply clicik on one of the cities in the third column it takes me to the correct city location page.

Based on that there must be a way to hardcode or manually write a City link with the required javascript to set the php session to that location?

No such thing as a stupid question,this puzzled me for a bit.
First things first.
Make sure you’ve got the Genesis theme and Genesis Geo Travel themes installed and activated.

Make sure you have the genesis compatibility plugin installed and activated.

And make sure GeoDirectory is not set to be the home-page
Go to Geo Directory – Design & Uncheck “Set geodirectory home page as your home”

Assuming this is all correct then perhaps post a screen shot of your Widgets Page and Customization page and I’ll see if I can help.

One other thing make sure you’re using the latest versions of the Geo Plugin, theme, and compatibility plugin.
