Hi, yes I have the latest updates. What’s curious is that I see it working in some cases, and not in others. Here’s an example.

    The Mission District neighborhood page:

    http://wheretobaby.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

Note that the second title on the page is %%in_location_neighbourhood%% – this is a widget.

However, on another neighborhood page, like the Noe Valley neighborhood page:

    http://wheretobaby.com/location/california/san-francisco/noe-valley/

The second title is working. Same technical page, same widget.

Here’s where a variable is not working at all… scroll to the bottom on either of those pages, and you’ll see a list of neighborhoods on the left. The title, coming from the Location: Neighbourhood widget, is Neighborhoods in %%location_city%%

The rest of the widgets on the page that use the new variables are working, as you can see.

I am also baffled as to where the title bar neighborhood display is coming from. I’d like it to show %%in_location_neighbourhood%% – %%in_location_city%%, %%in_location_region%% %%sep%% %%sitename%% like I have set up in the meta title area in the settings of the GD area under “Titles & Metas” for the Location page. For some reason, that area only allows for the meta title and description and not the page title and description. I looked in the SEO plugin area and cannot find it set there, either. There’s a Location page in WP, so I tried setting it on the page directly, but that doesn’t seem to work, either.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you! I’ll send another reply with my WP login.

    Hi,

I’m going to try to be more clear in explaining this.

All of the detail pages render fine. No problems with code breaking anything.

I made a new review to a Place detail page that already had a review with no problems. That review caused the images to disappear. When I get rid of the review, everything is fine. When I take it out of trash and it’s back on the page, the page breaks.

I understand that you see this JS code as breaking things when the review is there, but it only breaks because the review did something to it. This is a bug here.

If you like, you can easily see this in action by going into the admin, adding back the review from trash, see the page broken, trash the review, see the page render fine.

Happy to help you in any way I can.

Okay, so I went into the admin area to re-upload the images, but they are still there…

I trashed the review, and everything is fine.

So something about the review caused this problem. I’m going to copy staging to production and you can go into the admin area and un-trash the review and trash it again to figure out what is manifesting this bug.

    Thank you!

I guess what I am saying is that the pictures were there in the slider just like on that production link I sent. When I submitted the review, the slider pictures disappeared and now you see that js error because there is no data in the slider because the pictures were removed somehow when the review was submitted. Submitting the review caused the js error by removing the images.

I need to copy staging to production today for launch, so I’m replacing production with staging.

I’ll need to simply re-upload those pictures to fix the problem, but the bug is not fixed.

    Thanks

    Thanks for looking…

So, the same page with the same files on production does not have this problem:

    http://wheretobaby.com/places/united-states/california/san-francisco/food/savor/

The only difference is that on staging I had made a review and on production I did not.

So, something seems to have gone wrong when the review was added.

    Any idea?

    Hi,

It looks to me like this only happened in the Neighborhoods table… I can’t find an instance in the listings. I’m curious as to which of the import/export options you chose. Please tell me.

It only concerns me because I see it happened in one case, so that leads me to wonder if it happened in more cases elsewhere that I am not seeing yet.

Here’s a page that shows what I found:

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

If you scroll to the very bottom and look at the list of Neighborhoods on the left, you can see the duplicate Fisherman/’s Wharf entries – one has a listing and one does not – and see the “/’s” in those neighborhood titles.

If it’s just this one instance, then it’s easy to correct manually by deleting the instance of Fisherman/’s Wharf with no listings and updating the title in the instance where there is a listing. I am happy to do this myself, once you are finished looking through to see if there are other instances.

I will reply with the login instructions to access the DB in a private reply.

    Hi Kiran,

    1) Thank you… it’s tough to keep it straight which Title/Meta area I should be working with in different instances. I’ll just try both and see which works from now on 🙂

    2) Thank you for that code snippet – it’s really great! Is there a variable I can use to only show the name of the Neighborhood? It’s very unnecessarily wordy, and tough on aesthetics, to print out the neighborhood and the city and the state always. Here’s the example of what I am talking about:

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

Scroll to the bottom… I’m using the variable %%in_location%% there at the top of both of those columns. I’d like them to say “Kid-Friendly Places in The Mission District” and “Top-Rated Kid-Friendly Places in The Mission District” instead of “Kid-Friendly Places in The Mission District, San Francisco, California” and “Top-Rated Kid-Friendly Places in The Mission District, San Francisco, California” – seems like it would make sense to make a set of variables like this:

%%location%% – Full location: Neighborhood, City, State/Region, Country
    %%location_neighborhood%% – Only the Neighborhood
    %%location_city%% – Only the City
    %%location_region%% – Only the Region
    %%location_country%% – Only the Country

When they are broken out like this, then the customization possibilities are endless. Publishers can cobble together any combination of these variable to display exactly what is needed.

If you tell me how to do this, I would love to set these up in my install. This is such an important issue for SEO.

    3) Thank you, that totally worked!

    4) If you visit that same page:

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

You’ll see I have added %%location%% to the title in the location description widget – but it’s weird that it does not display the neighborhood like the others do, it displays only the city. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Hi Kor,

WordPress has an Import/Export page independent of GeoDirectory, and as I am new to GeoDirectory, When you started talking about importing and exporting, that’s what I thought you were talking about. I had gone to the WordPress Import/Export page and saw the post type “Places” and that’s what I thought you might be exporting and importing.

The documentation also does not make the distinction between WordPress Import/Export and the plugin-specific Import/Export screen (there is no sample path to the page or description that would indicate where the Import/Export screen is that the documentation refers to). It took me a little while to figure out that is what you are talking about, the plugin-specific Import/Export screen.

Meanwhile, I was asking which item you are Importing/Exporting for this task, and I still do not know which one you did this with. Listings? I’m always afraid to do exporting and importing due to unwanted changes made that seem to be inescapable… for example, after you did this import/export operation, there are now some duplicates in the database and all the “‘s” are now “/’s” – is there a way that you can take your original export file, change the column you want to change, then be sure that this other unwanted stuff is not going to happen, then re-import?

Thank you – I have decided to simply copy staging to production once everything is the way we want it, as it turns out there is nothing in the production database that we need to preserve.

    Thank you!

    Thank you, Kiran!

!) So, how do I remove the word “Location” from the title bar for the locations like on this page:

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

    2) I tried using the %%in_location%% variable in the widget title for Popular Categories on those pages but it doesn’t work. Any way to make them work in the Widget titles?

    3) I tried adding the %%location%% in the title bar of the Details pages, but it does not work:

    %%title%%, %%location%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/places/united-states/california/san-francisco/food/baby-blues-bbq/

    Any ideas?

    4) About the description… I have a description entered in the Location Manager area for The Mission District neighborhood. It is not showing up on the location page:

    http://wheretobaby.staging.wpengine.com/location/california/san-francisco/the-mission-district/

Where does this description show up and how can I display it on the Neighborhood page?

    Thank you!

Thank you! It all looks right, now. So, what did you export? I had exported “Places” with the WordPress Export tool. I did a search in the document and did not find a Claimed column. Where is it? I need to do this on the live site as well.

    Thanks 🙂

Thank you… without at least the title tags allowed to have the Neighborhood displayed, they should know that if you have neighborhoods, Google will see all of those duplicate title tags and the site is penalized as Google sees this as an indication of “junk pages.” Added to this, is the importance of having the Neighborhood displayed at least once or twice, not just for useability, but to rank higher in search engine results pages when people search for the neighborhood, as is very important for our site. Example: “Playgrounds in Nob Hill”

Thank you, please let me know as soon as is possible when this can be done and if there is anything I can do to facilitate this.
