Its just a shortcode used in the wrong place, maybe we should hide that from being selected on that page.
I am sorry you are getting frustrated, you have been a great help so far, it would be ashame to lose your contributions from the testing.
What exactly is frustrating you? If its frustration over finding things maybe we could setup some instant messaging (skype/slack) so i can answer any questions quickly?

For this item, you want to edit the “Archive item” not the “Archive” page, you want these links for all items, i think that makes sense?

We are trying to take the approach of WordPress (which are quite successful), if we did it the 100% WP way then these advanced settings would just not exist, but we understand people will want to change things and customise things so instead of only providing hooks and filters where only a small % of people will be able to use these, we provide advanced settings for these.Literally ever single company/product you mentions above is full of “advanced settings”
For some products/items they might all be condensed into the one screen and admittedly Apple mostly just don’t give you advanced options for pretty much the exact reason as WP.It also might surprise you to know there are hidden settings screens in WP, you have probably never seen them and don’t even know they exist, there are no links to it inside WP, is that more patronizing than actually giving users the option to view and change them?
As i said we can’t please everyone 🙂
Its for better UI/UX, most of these settings will never be changed and just confuse users, some settings users don’t even understand what they do, and by asking them to make a decision they don’t understand that is bad UX. Users like yourself who understand most things can disable this feature, i actually prefer browsing the settings the way they are, i ran it with this feature disabled but i ended up enabling it again because it was much cleaner and easier to find the settings i need.

Every time you give a user an option, you are asking them to make a decision. When a user doesn’t care or understand the option this ultimately leads to frustration.

It should work on a multisite (single activation, not network),if you have it as a single install then try saving the permalinks.

We do need a quick start guide even for the beta, i’ll flag this for the docs guys to write one up.

Did you run through the setup wizard?
GDv2, should only be tried from a FRESH install (no previous GDv1).
There is no longer any GD homepage, you would simple add widgets/shortcodes to your own homepage as normal.Our Directory starter and SD themes should not be used at the moment, they use some GDv1 code which causes some problems with GDv2 as we use different newer code.

It was deliberately left only on the backend to save resources so to not have to check the status of a plugin on each page load.
There is no easy way to resolve this quickly without you editing the addons and removing the admin only part of the check.

I belive what you are taking about is the words used and a “X” to remove them? If so this is part of advanced search.
If i have misunderstood maybe you can provide a screenshot or link to what exactly you mean?
