installation v2 beta

    Hi guys,

    I may have missed it, but is there an installation guide?

    I have downloaded the zip, unpacked it and moved it into my wp plugins folder and eventually activated the plugin.

    However, after that I couldnt find any information how v2 is supposed to be installed. Do we still need GD directory starter + subpreme directory? I have installed both but under: settings -> reading -> I can still not set the start page to GD homepage as in v1.

    Would be great if you could share some additional support info how to get the v2 running.

    Hi David,

    We do need a quick start guide even for the beta, i’ll flag this for the docs guys to write one up.

    Some info is in the blog post, did u read that?
    Did you run through the setup wizard?
    GDv2, should only be tried from a FRESH install (no previous GDv1).
    There is no longer any GD homepage, you would simple add widgets/shortcodes to your own homepage as normal.

    Our Directory starter and SD themes should not be used at the moment, they use some GDv1 code which causes some problems with GDv2 as we use different newer code.

    A guide would be great, I think it will be needed for the final version anyway.

    I read the available info but somewhere was a link to instructions that showed how to set the start page as GD home page, that’s why I was looking for it.

    Because I couldn’t find it I assumed I may need the gd starter and subprime directory themes and installed these. Did that some harm to the v2 plugin or can I just uninstall these themes?

    V2 and Directory Starter are not compatible yet. Try any other theme, and also be aware, you cannot use any addons yet with V2, only use the main core plugin.

    Hi Guust!

    Loong time no talk! Hope you’re well!

    All clear, however, if I now deactivate the starter and supbreme theme, do I need to reinstall clean the v2 plugin (as they may have overwritten v2 files) or is deactivation fine?

    Also from what what I had read before on v2, I understand “any theme” would apply to all WP themes out there and not just GD themes, right?

    Plugin files are not affected by theme activation. So there is no need to reinstall anything.
    The aim is to have it work with “any theme” including all WP themes out there, but V2 is beta only.

    Got it.

    To be honest, I’m totally lost with the new v2! It’s inevitable from my perspective to have a guide asap! I feel like I’m starting from scratch again trying to understand GD, just without any documentation this time.
