Everything just began working again, then it all went back to saying no listings available. This seems very strange to me…

Strange, not sure how I did that…
I did change the Location url prefix to dogfriendly in the permalinks settings, but that was right back when I first installed geodirectory to avoid a conflict issue with another directory plugin I had running at the time. Don’t think I changed anything recently, but I must have done something I guess, anyway all seems to be working ok now, so thank you!

Ok, I think I’m well behind with the locations thing. My site isn’t sorted into locations like that at all. I don’t have an ‘All locations’ tab or anything, but I can see it would help with navigation.
I tried adding a location (London), but still all I get in the change location drop down is ‘Everywhere’. I don’t really know where to begin with the neighbourhoods set up, or whether I’m even trying to change the correct thing. Is there a tutorial of some sort anywhere? I’d really like my visitors to be able to search for what’s in their area, or the area they want to visit. What is the best way to do that as simply as possible for them?
Thanks for confirming about the drop down menus, I’ll sort that.
Is there a way to set up the search so that it searches by category instead? So that if a person has listed in the dog walker category and set their location as being within the nottinghamshire area, they can be easily searched for? Even if I have to use a third party plugin?
Thanks
Sally
Hi Paolo
Sorry for my slowness, by clearing the cache, do you mean purge the file ie the url of the homepage?
I just did that and the widget still doesn’t appear, but have I done the right thing?
Thanks
Sally
Hi Stiofan
I wont worry about rocketloader then 😉
It was working fine this morning, until the updates.. :/
Thanks Guust,
I think that all makes sense now…
I’ve set up my menus better now so I have the main cpts along the main menu. I want them to be very prominent like that. Just one question, is there a way to have the categories within those cpts dropdown below those menu items, or do I need to use the normal wordpress menu system instead if I want to do it that way?
Still not sure I get the switcher thing, and my search thing doesn’t seem to show any results when I use it, but I’m thinking I may not have set that up correctly yet. For instance, I tried searching within daytime care for a ‘dog sitter’ in ‘nottingham’ but got no results. I know there is one, because I am one and I’m listed on there lol
Thanks
Sally
Thanks Stiofan
No idea what rocketloader is, or what it does, but found it in the cloudflare settings and turned it off and it seems to have fixed it. Hope it’s not essential! :/
Out of interest, does the widget on my homepage titled ‘Take a look at these doggie shops!’ work on your end? It isnt on mine, only the title shows, but my internet is playing up this week so I’m not sure if its me or the site. It was showing ok earlier.
Thanks again
Sally
