Hi Kiran, thanks for getting back to me. The problem I’m seeing is that the search bar is not discriminating between categories or locations. If you attempt to search for “solar installers” (the default cpt) and you type in a location, the results page will just show a bunch of stuff, like my terms of use page (see attached images). Just searching for a cpt without typing location or any categories pulls all pages as well. You can see this for yourself, the first stuff to show up seems to be pages when it should only be things within the specified cpt. What you have shown me in your image is in fact the only functioning feature of the search bar.
Now, is there still a conflict with another plugin, have I set it up wrong, or is it inherently broken?
At a risk of sounding rude, and only because Matt Damon communicated with Earth faster in the Martian, can you please test the search extensively so that we are on the same page.
Thank you for your help and patience.
We’ve updated the code for buddyboss wall twice. The dev is asking for someone to have another look. I wish I was more privy to the technical details so that I could understand this but alas all I know is that the search does not work, regardless of buddyboss wall being active or inactive and thus my directory is rendered unusable.
Hi Kiran et al,
Could you have another look at this? The buddyboss wall dev has been working on it for a few days now to no avail and he asked if you could take another look. I actually just tried deactivating buddyboss wall and the search still doesn’t work properly which has sent me into somewhat of a panic. I’m not sure what to do at this point. I appreciate your help.
Cheers,
Hi Kiran can you tell me which url this error is coming up on? That is what the dev from buddyboss asked. Verbatim: “Could you please point me to the url on which you getting this error? Since the attached screenshot is too small in the size, I could not get clear view.”
What should I say?
Thanks everyone, I will bring this up with BuddyBoss and keep you informed. Cheers!
I’ve tested edge and chrome and this is what I’m seeing.
If you type solar and you see the utility scale installs popping up these aren’t solar installers, they are the “completed systems” cpt. In fact, this may be why you’re confused, searching solar seems to pull 28 results which is not all of them, but there is still content here that shouldn’t be here. It is pulling any post with solar in it without looking at the post type.
I thought there might be an issue with that plugin since it deals with addresses. I am continuously having issues. The default category for the gd search is solar installers, if I keep this and select say, Canada, as a region, instead of pulling up anything remotely close to “solar installers” or even “canada” I get a list of all 48 posts on the site. When I said autocompleting categories I meant autocompleting listings within a category. And in fact it does autocomplete listing categories such as “photovoltaics” one of the sub(?) categories of the “solar installer” CPT although clicking this brings me to a page with no results, even though this is the default category for all solar isntallers.
I believe Paolo above noticed an error and hopefully pursing this will solve my problems.
I am aware there is no map widget on search gd search.
If you are searching on gd home which is /hub on my site and working then I am very confused. For me it doesn’t matter if I’m logged in or not.
Really need help with this one as it was working fine before.
Okay great, thank you!
Yeah I’m not sure why it thinks there’s code twice on the page. The map does show for me and seems to be working normally now. The problem I’m having is with the gd search. It seems to be pulling all 48 odd posts whenever I try to search for something specific. If I keep the cpt to installer and set the region to quebec it just pulls everything, including group docs. It’s really weird. It will autocomplete places and when I click it it takes me there, so that’s good. But doing actually searches seems to be broken.
But the map icons now only say [object][object] when you click them instead of information…. It’s a bit tedious.
Actually ignore that, I think it’d just being slowed down. I intend to use a cdn in the future so it should fix the map loading slowly.
Also the map won’t load new data when you scroll on it.
Yeah I mean the GD search on the GD_Home top section. Currently you can’t search for anything because the hourglass spins indefinitely after you type something in. It’s not auto-completing categories either and pulling weird results. Definitely playing up. Try a search from https://powerlily.io/hub and you’ll see what I mean.
