Thanks for the advice, I’ve got a fair few things to learn! I’ll stick with the location switcher option for now to keep it simple.

My other issue I’m experiencing is that when you first arrive at the site, the complete list of categories doesn’t always show up on the map, but if you re-open/refresh the site then they all appear? I will perhaps post this issue as a separate topic though…

    Cheers

Thanks for clarifying Guust and Paolo – so basically the ‘Neighbourhoods’ option is only available for US based directories? I wish I had known that beforehand as I spent a fair bit of time manually adding suburbs (I had assumed the neighbourhood/suburb thing was just terminology) thinking I was setting up my structure for Places correctly… 🙁 Could it be worth noting somewhere that this structure won’t work if located outside of the US (or that it won’t work for Australian directories)?

So my main concern now is that I’m not able to use the ‘Change location’ function on the website as when users try and search for their city (i.e. Melbourne, Sydney, Perth), it’s only going to give them the listings that are captured within the CBD areas itself and not the suburbs (e.g. of Greater Melbourne). This is a shame as I was hoping to have the ‘Change location’ button available.

    Cheers

Hi – I’m new to Geodirectory and WordPress so would just like to also clarify in regards to updating plugins (I’m worried about updating and breaking my website!)…

I’ve recently updated to WordPress 4.1.1 and now been notified of available updates to the GD plug in (version 1.3.6 and 1.3.8) and associated add-ons. It tells me that these versions haven’t been tested with my current version of WordPress (I’m assuming that GD 1.3.8 is fine to use with 4.1.1 as noted in previous post even though the GD website only says compatible upto 4.1.0?), my questions are:

    – do you need to update to v.1.3.6. first and then v.1.3.8 or can I just update straight to v.1.3.8?
    – is it always necessary to update to the latest versions of plug ins and add-ons when available?
    – possible silly question here (!) but when updating, do you just click on the ‘install update now’ button (so update the GD plugin first and then update the add-ons after) or is there something you need to do beforehand?

Apologies if this topic is already covered in detail elsewhere.

    Thanks
