This reply has been marked as private. Thanks, Guust. This appears to work.
A few questions
– the near me distance is displayed on the first page after clicking the near me button but the distance is not displayed on subsequent pages even though the posts appear to be sorted by distance. This is not a big thing but I was wondering if this is the only way this can work.
Also, is it possible to mix post types using the short code that you listed or is it possible to only list and search one post type at a time.
Thanks
VictorHi sorry about that. I was just trying to post in the most appropriate spot.
ThanksHi
As a followup to the above I have three pages that use listings and near me/search buttons.
On my homepage (www.firewood connect.com), I use the popular widget and 20 listings appear (based on a widget setting of 20) with featured listings first followed by the rest in alphabetical order. I can determine how many to display in the widget settings but is it possible to page through to additional listings without clicking the view all link? Is there a better widget to use than the popular widget to display this on the front page such that featured listings are still displayed first?
Using the search widget I can set the number of listings based on the distance. So if I increase the distance the user can scroll down to the limits of the distance set.
Using the near me widget, it appears that the 20 closest listings are displayed (maybe based on the settings in the popular widget?). Is it possible to set the distance for the near me widget similar to the search widget?
thanks
VictorHi
as a follow up to the above, in GD >> Advance Search if I leave the radius blank should all listings be displayed when the near me button is used?
thanks
VictorHi
It looks like if I leave the near me default distance blank it is unlimited? If so, shouldn’t it list all listings by distance?
Thanks
VictorHi
I see what you mean by the redirect to the location/me page.
How is it determined what is displayed on this page? How far from the location are the listings displayed or is it a certain number of listings?I would like the user to be able to scroll through pages while getting further and further from his current location.
Thanks
VictorHi
My issue is when using the near me button widget. I don’t see where you can use a filter. I understand that you use a filter for the search box but don’t see a setting for the near me button.
Is there a setting somewhere I am missing?
thanks
VictorHow do I increase the number of listings that show up in a near me search? My site is at http://www.firewoodconnect.com
Thanks
VictorThanks, Paolo.
I will look at this. I thought I had taken care of the gzip compression but maybe I did incorrectly. I will also look at the other issues.
VictorThis reply has been marked as private.Hi I have two sites using Geodirectory at http://www.hearabouthere.com and http://www.firewoodconnect.com.
I did google speed tests on them but the results were not so good. Attached are screen prints of the front page results. II installed GD Booster and think I followed all the instructions correctly.
Would you be able to take a look or have suggestions?
Thanks
VictorThanks, Paolo.
I see that my other site (firewoodconnect.com also a GD site) has a green padlock while the one (hearabouthere.com) I am having a problem with does not. Perhaps my problem is with insecure content? Does everything need to have a HTTPS URL for near me to work?
Thanks
VictorAs a follow up to my above comment, I also have a site at http://www.firewoodconnect.com in which the near me button works in all browsers while the one at wwww.hearabouthere.com returns an error that ” your location is currently unknown” so I think it would have to be a setting in the latter install. Any idea which one I should look at? Thanks.
