can only be activated per site
not displaying because ‘Default post type search on map’ was empty CPT
what a pain
thanks for prompt response
Why not using the built in import/export features?
In GeoDir Import/Export it doesn’t export an empty CPT. What is included in the export – categories only or does it include listings?
Documentation doesn’t discuss importing CPT’s only that listings/categories require CPT to be manually entered in Admin.
would be interested in bulk feature that doesn’t require manually creating CPTs.
good to know “it wasn’t my fault!”
thanks for following up
if I change location switcher in navigation menu to everywhere – it takes to everywhere location page – if click home navigation from there it goes to correct front page
I will add some real listings today with different locations to see what happens
thanks for looking, but still broken
it looks okay at first, click home navigation and it takes you to correct page
if you’re at the front page/home page
click the city link ‘Tallahassee’ in the multilocation switcher located below the map
it takes you to Tallahassee page
from there, click the Home navigation or site logo
it takes you to ‘recent posts’ instead of the static page that is set in WP > Reading [which is called Front Page]
sorry about that, role was not correct, please try again

Thanks for checking…
you can’t see the switcher because you can’t get to the actual ‘home’ page where it is added as a shortcode underneath the map and search…
While…
Multilocations > HOME URL SETTINGS > Home page should go to > Site root (ex: mysite.com/) [which is a static page called ‘Home’]
GD Permalinks > GEODIRECTORY PAGES > GD Home page > ‘Home’ (the static page)
going to the site root address – ie the front page takes you to the only city location that has listings… from Dummy Data entered to default location. (I can’t remember but I may have added dummy data to default location before add-ons were installed)
however in trying to change GD Permalinks – there is no option for ‘none’ can’t revert it.
if it is required to have GB Permalinks > GD Homepage set before entering any data a simple start checklist would be helpful – it is not mentioned in basic setup. I’m also wondering if calling the static front page ‘Home’ might be causing a problem.
For this site troubleshooting is a matter of diminishing returns. I’m going to uninstall geodirectory and delete tables from the database and reinstall.
I suppose it could be the sequence of doing things and possibly leaving something unchecked or conflicting settings might be causing this.
but the concern is that it also happens on other WP Multisite installs – so might have to do a cleanup there too.
I will post here after re-installation and setup and see what we get.

now understand a little about location switcher shortcode, clicking city location must have listings to bring to page
However… back to being broken …
Home page should go to Home page should go to Site root (ex: mysite.com/) — brings to latest posts page, not static page as set in WP settingsin GD Permalinks I changed GEODIRECTORY PAGES > GD Home page > to the static page (which is called Home). but this overrides the Multilocations > HOME URL SETTINGS > Home page should go to > Site root (ex: mysite.com/) which now instead of going to latest posts page – returns to the location page as the home page
I think this might change with more locations and listings… but I rather get it straight before investing in loading listings..
I’m not even sure what my question is anymore… other than it is not working properly to return users to the correct home page
behavior is completely unpredictable and can’t seem to find documentation that walks through all settings without inducing cerebral hemorrhage (there are two completely different location manager docs in documentation) – Multilocation Addon and Location Manager Addon, plus one for shorcodes, and another for default location and not sure if creating default location before adding mulitlocation/locationmanager addon is okay or not…
I added more dummy data, and added a location
now… when on a place page and click back to home page it goes to proper page
however…
on that home page I have these shortcodes
[gd_homepage_map width=100% height=335 scrollwheel=false]
[gd_advanced_search]
[gd_location_switcher]
[gd_current_location_name]
[gd_location_description]Nothing is displayed for [gd_current_location_name] [gd_location_description] – not sure if that is normal
before when I clicked the city in location manager shortcode it brought me to another page with a map etc for that city, now… nothing happens when clicking city other than processing for a couple seconds and then returning to home page
not sure if you really want to login and look at the site, or maybe better to provide a written explanation on how to set up this scenario
1)State Directory website – one state in the US
Don’t want to display US, nor State/Region in frontend
Don’t want to have to scroll through 100+ countries when adding location2)pages for cities show listings (multiple CPT) for those cities
3)user able to search statewide
4)user able to search within citywhat are settings?
does some special message need to be displayed to user so they know to change location or can they simply search?some sort of scenario explanations would reduce support posts considerably
I installed a completely fresh site on another domain, WP theme and no plugins, and so far it is not redirecting to homepage as ‘latest posts’.
going to play with geo settings to see if can trigger behavior
this occurs on other network sites with same theme and plugins – so not necessarily a ‘setup’ issue but either a bug in WPGeo or a conflict with theme/plugins.
