Thanks Guust.
This event… https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/west-yorkshire/leeds/leeds-heritage-beer-tour-5/
… is the one that should come directly after the featured events. It does on the events archive, just not on the widget, so looks like it’s obeying the top-level sort, just not the second level.
Thanks,
DaveHi Guust,
Just added a ‘featured’ event that’s on this week. Good news is that’s showing first in the ‘top picks’ widget on the home page.
However, the event that has the highest rating that’s on this week, isn’t showing next (it’s not showing until page 3).
Thanks,
DaveHi Guust, thanks for asking the developers about this.
Just to let you know, I tried going to event categories first, clicking on the number to show only events in that category, but when I then went to filter by location, it just loses the event category and opens up all events for that location.
Thanks,
DaveThanks, that’s helped. However, ‘default_category’ worked better because when an event has more than 1 category, it would bring more accurate ‘events like this’ because it was following the default category.
For example, this event: https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/west-yorkshire/leeds/matt-chorley-this-is-not-normal/
..is in ‘Arts & Theatre’ as well as ‘Comedy’.
Comedy is the default category, so I would prefer the ‘more like this’ tab to show more comedy events, then ‘Arts & Theatre’.When it was ‘default_category’ in the shortcode, it did just that.
So 1) Is ‘default_category’ no longer available?
and 2) When you make changes to shortcodes, do you publish the changes anywhere? That way I can keep up to date with them. Thanks,

I’m looking at an option from Fasthost which has…
Intel E3-1230 V63.5 GHz 4 Cores
16GB RAM
2 x 1000GB HDD (Software RAID 1)Ok thanks Alex. I’ve been having a good read through that. Looks like for the size of directory I’m trying to build, I need a dedicated server for a start.
Will that also help with the Ajax speed, do you know?
Thanks,

That’s working just find including the original error I was posting about on here. It’s pulling in events from Manchester just fine.
As the Hull one won’t load, I can only assume it’s become corrupt somehow and that’s what’s causing the original error.
Looks like it’s solved, thanks guys.
