    Hi guys,

I’ve had a shortcode set up for a while which shows events from the same category as the listing you’re viewing.

However, it seems to have stopped working and the option no longer appears in the shortcode builder. The code is still there as related_to=”default_category” but no longer works.

    For example, this event:
    https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/west-yorkshire/leeds/leeds-heritage-beer-tour-5/

under ‘more like this’ should show events in the same location from the same ‘food & drink’ category. It used to work but now shows all events from every category.

    Can you help please?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I changed the shortcode to “related_to=”category””
    Is that what you wanted?
    Thanks

Thanks, that’s helped. However, ‘default_category’ worked better because when an event has more than 1 category, it would bring more accurate ‘events like this’ because it was following the default category.

    For example, this event: https://whatsonhub.co.uk/events/united-kingdom/west-yorkshire/leeds/matt-chorley-this-is-not-normal/
..is in ‘Arts & Theatre’ as well as ‘Comedy’.
Comedy is the default category, so I would prefer the ‘more like this’ tab to show more comedy events, then ‘Arts & Theatre’.

When it was ‘default_category’ in the shortcode, it did just that.

So 1) Is ‘default_category’ no longer available?
and 2) When you make changes to shortcodes, do you publish the changes anywhere? That way I can keep up to date with them.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello,

all shortcode params are available in the shortcode builder.

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/shortcode-builder/

    This should work, yes:

    [gd_listings post_type="gd_place" related_to="default_category" post_limit="5" add_location_filter="1" sort_by="az" title_tag="h3" layout="1" view_all_link="1" bottom_pagination="1"]

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for that, but that initial related_to=”default_category” is no longer appearing in my shortcode builder, and no longer seems to work.

related_to=”category” works ok, but originally default_category was working just a few weeks and did appear in the shortcode builder.

I’d just like to know if it’s going to be re-enabled?
And for any changes like that in the future, is there a way you guys can keep us up to date as I had no idea default_category had been removed.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    1) default category is still available see screenshot.

    2) Changes to shortcodes and other things can be reviewed here when updates are available: https://wpgeodirectory.com/change-logs-v2/

    Thanks
