Thanks! This helps for now. Resolved.
AshleyThat did the trick. Thank you.
Might I suggest that the wording on the video custom field be changed for clarity?
Something like, “Show in More Info Tab on Detail Page” – or just take the option out entirely since the video seems to automatically populate in the Video tab.
🙂

I figured out a work around. This can be set as resolved.
February 20, 2015 at 4:57 pm in reply to: Update Loses Location Settings, Location Switcher Weirdness #31546Yes, it’s QUITE the frustrating problem that we had resolved until this recent update.
In the dropdown menu where you pick your country, there are actually THREE options for the US Virgin Islands: Virgin Islands (US), Virgin Islands, and US Virgin Islands. Only one of them is attached to Google– Virgin Islands, but we have to translate that one to US Virgin Islands because we also include the British Virgin Islands in our directory and we need to designate U.S. from British.
So one of the US Virgin Islands is not connected to Google. The one that is translated to US Virgin Islands was originally just “Virgin Islands” and IS attached to Google.
Yeah, I know. Clear as mud.
Has Stiofan had a chance to look into this yet?
Thanks.

Thank you for the info on not deactivating before updating. I was a little confused and thought I needed to deactivate all add-ons before updating the core. Will no longer do that!
I will look forward to hearing from Stiofan on the location switcher funniness.
Thank you.

Thanks! Thanks Guust — that’s what I was wondering about too. I knew there was this “upgrade” feature, but I wasn’t sure what would happen to the original contract.
I presume that you have a direct access to Stiofan, so I will patiently await his response. 🙂
Thank you!
Hi Guust.
Thanks for the response.
My spiel:The business idea is based on referrals and sharing. We want to entice people to engage with the website and to buy advertising and advertising boosts, in part, by offering discounts through referrals and engagement.
We’ve prioritized our wishlist into two tiers – the first which is the core functionality, and the second that would be nice if it’s not too much added time and expense. Since neither of us are developers, we’re unclear about how difficult this would be to execute.
I’ve attached a flow chart (it’s ugly, sorry) that I hope will help illustrate.
Boxes with red outlines are priority.
Boxes with blue outlines are secondary.I’m started a short list of my understanding of what will need to be done on the developer side to complete the project.
Developer To Do
(including but not limited to…we know there are things our non-developer brains cannot fathom)PRIORITY – CORE FUNCTIONALITY
1. Create Affiliate Account and Registration Form that includes Referral Code fields.
2. Create Referral Code System that functions as illustrated in the attached flow chart, to include but not limited to:
a. Add Referral Code fields to general Registration Form. Referral Codes to be permanently associated with Advertiser/Affiliate accounts.
b. Advertiser accounts will be billed monthly for annual contracts- need to be connected to Referral codes, so any finders fees will be subtracted from the monthly amount.
c. Link Referral Code field from Add Business Listing form to both Affiliate and Advertiser Accounts.
d. Link new Referral Codes to digital business card that will be sent to new affiliate/advertiser accounts
e. User interface where affiliates and advertisers can check their balances, etc.SECONDARY – WISHLIST
1. Link Referral Code System with comments so that Advertisers will be able to earn advertising credits by engaging with the website.Eagerly Awaiting Your Thoughts!

Mike Housky – We are looking for a plugin developer familiar with GD to custom code an affiliate program that integrates with GeoDirectory. If this is something you’d be interested in, please email me at [email protected]. This has also been posted on the job board, but there doesn’t seem to be much action there. Thank you!
December 10, 2014 at 4:21 pm in reply to: Category and Blog widgets + "Add to Calendar" option #24016I’m a designer, not a developer, but that sounds like a super reasonable price to me!
We are looking to add an affiliate program as well.
Any update on whether or not this is still scheduled to be included? -
