Hi
I have just purchased WPML and before i start i would just like to check a few things so i understand a bit more clearly.
I will translate English to Japanese for a dual language site1. After translation is complete can i set the japanese translation to be the main language when the site loads? If i do this does it break anything link wise ect. I will use the stick links addon for WPML.
2. As the site is originally made in English, after translating if a Japanese visitor adds a listing in Japanese, will this listing be recorded as the Japanese version of the listing or will I have to replace it with English and then add the Japanese translation? I hope its recorded as the Japanese version and then i can add the English translation.
Kind regards
DaveApril 22, 2020 at 7:15 am #5417541. Site language is a WP setting in WP Backend – Settings – Site language
2. Listings are added in the language of the add-listing form. Once you translate all templates you will have an add-listing form in JP and EN. You choose which one to use to add the listing.
April 22, 2020 at 9:20 am #541791Hi Alex
Sorry if my questions are a bit dumb, I just want to clarify the points below.
For each page I translate I should deselect to duplicate the page?
So after translating the site into Japanese I can then set Japanese to be the main language in the WordPress backend and it will use my Japanese translations as the default language setting is that correct?
Doing this won’t break anything link wise etc on the site?
This will then make English the second language option for the site right?
With regards to point 2, if you are viewing the site in English you will get the English add listing form so this will create an English language listing page obviously. If you change the site language to the second option, Japanese the listing form will appear in Japanese. So this then creates a Japanese listing page that I can translate/duplicate in to English right?
Kind regards

What our addon does is make GD work as expected, like native posts, for WPML. It doesn’t add any new features outside WPML.
Each GD Page template should be translated into another language.

Yes, but refer to WPML docs for how to do that.

No

Thanks for clearing that up I think I understand better now. I will start with the translation and see how it goes from there.
Kind regards
