advanced search show results that meet one or more but not all search criteria

    Hello I am trying to set it up so that results will show all those listings the meet at least one of the criteria and for it to also note which criteria it meets.

    you can use a category, tag, or custom field for the criteria

    I’m confused. I created custom fields. But i want the results to return with OR not AND if the visitor uses advanced search. ANd I want them to be able to know which listings meet which criteria. Thanks!

    Hello!

    You can review the AND/OR settings at GD > Place Settings > Advanced Search

    Click on your field and you can adjust AND/OR

    Next show the fields as sorting options at GD > Place Settings > Sorting Options

    Last, in GD > Design > Search > Display searched parameters with title : CHECK

    GD > Place Settings > Advanced Search

    Create your custom field. In this example my field is selected, and then options are available

    I was able to change Select to Check and choose OR but the results still only show a listing if it meets all criteria.

    Hello!

    Let’s take a look at an example, now that you have the settings under control.

    Can you show 1/2/3 cases where a listing should be included vs excluded?

    You can make a private reply to share the search result URLs, and include your WP Admin credentials if you would like us to take a look at the settings.

    In General, multiple search criteria would be AND’d together. I am not sure that can be changed without a customization.

    Have you already adjusted the sorting options? It could be that sorting options might gt you closer to what you are looking for.

    Hello!

    I did see that there were ‘no results’ for the search you mention above. From what I understand, the search results are “And”‘d together, meaning that custom criteria must all be true.

    I will inquire of a colleague about your intent for the search. Thank you for your patience as we look into it.

    The OR argument is for within the same custom field not different ones.
    What you want is not possible at the moment.
