I like the display (from screen capture 2:02:20 pm) which shows all the information at a glance. When I drill down into that one listing (from screen capture 2:03:02 pm) the display is not so nicely formatted. … that is, all the useful information (tel number, fax number, address) is buried in the tabs.
I do like how the MAP function in the TAB allows me to “get directions”.
QUESTION: how can I reformat the display to be more useful (i.e.: like the first screen capture). I would love it if the map in the sidebar could offer “get directions” (I could then do away with the one in the TAB).
Many thanks (and Happy New Year in advance.)
December 31, 2017 at 7:49 pm #411073Hello!
Under GeoDirectory > Design > Detail Page > Detail Page Tab Settings > Show as List : CHECK
This will show all the tab information in a list.
You can add a “Get Directions” Link at GeoDirectory > Place Settings > Predefined Fields
Let us know how those work out for you
December 31, 2017 at 10:03 pm #411078Perfect! Thanks Alex!
The TAB issue is solved.
Still working on the GET DIRECTIONS.
One other QUESTION: How can I re-order the items shown in the Detail Page? I would like some items shows above others. I see I can EXCLUDE certain items (yeah!), but how to show them in a different order.
and, again, thanks for working so hard on New Year’s eve. I don’t expect a response now…you folks are almost at midnight, so if you’re working tomorrow (and I wouldn’t expect it), then I can use my day to get this up and running!!
January 1, 2018 at 12:46 am #411084To re-order tabs you created yourself you can drag and drop the custom fields at GD > Place Settings.
To re-order the default GD tabs, have a look at https://wpgeodirectory.com/re-order-tabs-in-a-listing-detail-page/The map tab should have a “get directions” option by default, see for example https://wpgeo.directory/starter/places/united-states/pennsylvania/philadelphia/restaurants/buddakan/#post_map
If you do not have that, post your URL and WP admin details so we can investigate.January 1, 2018 at 5:20 am #411098Yes, I am able to re-order the tabs in the Places page, just by using GD>Place Settings, that works well.
However, in the the DETAIL page, I am unable to have those same re-orderings follow through in the DETAILS page. Do I have to adjust the code myself? Is there no other way?
If I do have to deal with the code, how exactly do I…”Simply copy the following code snippet into your active theme’s functions.php file and save. ” How much of the code do I copy? Where do I find the Functions.php file? Into where within that file do I copy that code? Sorry,
Thx
J
January 1, 2018 at 6:15 am #411101I suggest you install this plugin: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/useful-plugins/#snippets
Then paste the code from https://wpgeodirectory.com/re-order-tabs-in-a-listing-detail-page/ in there.
Copy and paste the first lot of code, that is all you should need.
Read the post to find out how to adjust to what you need.January 4, 2018 at 12:13 am #411379Ah…! Great! That helped a lot!! Thanks so much!!
Definitely needed to use the SNIPPETS plugin.
Many thanks!!
