    hi Sir/Madam,

We are trying to update the expiration date of many event listings. Initially, my approach is to export the listing via csv. We then modify the date and re-import the modified csv. However, we encounter some errors in the import process. As such, we think it is much easier to make a change directly to the MySQL table. Since we are making changes to listing owned by one author, we would think that should be pretty straightforward to do.

All the listing is non-recurring all-day event with one start date and one end date. The only thing we are trying to do is to change the end date. We try to modify “event_enddate” field of the “WPHQ_GEODIR_EVENT_SCHEDULE” table. However, it does not seem to work as we expect. We probably do not understand the table structure correctly. Can someone please point us in the right direction?

    thanks for your help.

    Peter

    Hi Peter,

Exporting and importing would be your best option here and may I know what error did you encounter while importing? Also, we definitely do not recommend touching the database tables unless you’re very sure what you’re doing there.

    Thanks!

    hi Kor,

thanks for your suggestion. I retry the import using LibreOffice and 99% of the issue went away.
    We previously were using Excel.

I understand we are not supposed to use Excel to manipulate the csv file. However, Excel is a lot more pwoerful than Libreoffice in terms of macro and overall functionality. If we use Excel to manipulate the file and use Libreoffice to export the file as csv, would that still work? I am just curious.

    Hi Peter,

No, using Excel is definitely not recommended for CSV files. Which is why we are suggesting you use only LibreOffice for GD. Refer to the “Important Things To Know!” here is this section of the documentation https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/ .

    Thanks!
