I have enabled automatic claim listing. When the owner claims the listing, and clicks onto the listing name link in the verification email, they are taken to the listing page, but there is no “Edit Post” listing even though I am logged in. When they click the “verify listing” link on the email, they are taken to a screen that only says “listing already verified”.

Did you check if the claim was automatically approved?
It works by matching the email of the user’s account to the email of the listing. Only if they match is the claim approved automatically.

The confirmation email has two links:

    1) A link to their listing:

When they click this link they are taken to the listing but even if they are logged in they are not being shown the “Edit Post” link on the sidebar. They are left wondering what to do. There is no message telling them that their claim has been verified.

    2) “Click here to verify your listing”

When they click on the CLICK HERE TO VERIFY link on the confirmation email they are taken to a screen that makes no sense. It says ONLY “Listing Already Verified” which sounds like someone else already verified the listing. I have seen others comment on this as well. I think this language needs to be changed to something like “Thank you for claiming your listing. Your claim has been verified. Click [here] to edit your listing” Why is there no ability at this stage to edit your listing?

How is this feature supposed to work?

If the claim is not approved, they cannot edit the listing.

The email is as you say, and the user simply sees a confirmation on the screen.

The way it works is that they verify their email (which must match the listing email), the claim is approved, and they can view the listing and edit it.

We have a test written up here you can try:

But once they verify their email, they are not able to view the listing and edit it right away. Do they need to click the email link in the Claim Listing Approved email? This seems like an unnecessary extra step.

The problem is there is no explanation of this step for the visitor. All they see on the website when the click the link in the Claim Listing Verification Required is a screen that says “claim already verified”. This text is confusing and incomplete and needs to be re-written. It should say, “Thank you for verifying your email. You must now go back to check your email inbox again for a message confirming that your claim has been approved. Then you may log in and edit your listing.”

You can change the text by translating the claim manager addon.
Yes, they need to click the link in the email to verify the claim.
