Hi,
Is it possible to connect two types of CPT together? e.g. company / supplier and jobs completed?
e.g. tiler and tiling jobs completed? And it is also possible to connect these both to a geographical location?
I saw the linking thing with CPT but wasn’t sure that was what it referred to.
June 25, 2018 at 4:24 pm #436111It is possible to link one CPT to another CPT, yes.
Here’s a doc about it: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/linking-custom-post-types/
June 25, 2018 at 4:29 pm #436112Thanks Alex.
And can they be linked to a geographical location?
June 25, 2018 at 4:29 pm #436113Also can they both link to a category?
June 25, 2018 at 4:35 pm #436116GeoDirectory automatically collects listings together based on the address.
If your site uses the locaiton in the URL then there will be location pages for every country/region/city.
Category s a required field for every listing, so, all listings are also collected together, too.
These types of pages are called “Listing” pages and you can add widgets to the the GD Listing or GD Home page widget areas to show Location Description, Category Description, and of course listing widgets like GD Popular Post View.

June 25, 2018 at 4:48 pm #436123The map is not loading at all for me, so there must be an error somewhere.

Should I be able to see a listing in a town with all the companies in that town?
I’m concerned something is wrong.
June 25, 2018 at 8:03 pm #436145Hello,
some of your GD plugins are not yet up to date.
Please install WP Easy Updates to update your addons.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/installing-addons/#updates
Currently you are not using the location in the URL. Visit the settings at GD permalinks to set the full location in the URL or at least the region and city if the directory is focused on only the UK (one country).
We recommend that you set the full location in the URL and add the category, too.
Once plugins are updated we can take another look.
June 25, 2018 at 8:15 pm #436154Hi,
I want to not have the location in the service name though as these are profile pages and don’t need the location (or shouldn’t need the location). none of the sites in this niche use the location in the URLs of their members e.g.
What happens if the member moves to another location? It’s really not good if the listings solely rely on the user location because then it’s actually not a proper profile page at all.
Is this the case?
June 25, 2018 at 8:29 pm #436162Hi Alex,
It works on this site:
https://www.toptradespeople.co.uk/i/location/essex-1/
The locations are there and so are the services in the locations.
Is it possible to get something like https://www.toptradespeople.co.uk/i/services/plumbers/essex which then outputs a list of the plumbers in Essex
The profile pages would be like the ones listed in the page:
June 25, 2018 at 11:19 pm #436169You can just un-tick
GD > Permalinks > Add location slug in listing urlsThat will remove the location for detail pages.
