    Hi there,

I am building a new therapist directory website using geodirectory and need some advice on the best way to transfer all of the therapist listings on the current website to this new one. The current data is not export-able because it is all just text.

On the current site, the administrator manually inputs the listing information and the listing owners are all on a different payment renewal schedule (annually). My question is — once I set up the new directory with all of the required fields (I’ve added some new ones), etc. what is the best way to transfer the existing listings? I was thinking of password-protecting the new site and not taking it live until all of my current listers have gone in and completed their listing. Since I have added new fields (and ability to add an image) to the new site I can’t complete this myself and need them to complete some of the info. I was thinking I would create the listings myself with just put basic information in for each exiting listing (e.g location name, address, website) and then ask each of my current listers to go in and use the Claim Listing add-on to enable them to claim their listing and fill out all of the new fields I have created. But how do I handle the payment/renewals? Can I manually put in the expiration date of each listing and have the renewal notice go out to them then and ask them to pay?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You can add them as free listings and force them to upgrade to a annual recurring plan to complete the claim process.

That is an option of the claim listing add-on.

Let us know how it goes,

    Thanks

Thanks for your response Paolo. Since I am building a new site, I don’t want the new site to go live until all of the existing members have had a chance to convert their free listing to a paid listing using the Claim Your LIsting feature. Two questions:

Would it make sense for me to password-protect the development site and give each existing member a password so they can go in and claim the listing?

Each existing member is on a different renewal schedule under the existing system (which we do via paypal)? What is the best way to trigger a billing notice for them going forward under the new system, since I don’t want them to have to pay for the listing under the new site until they are up for renewal? If there a way to manually put in each renewal date?

    Thanks!

    Yes, why not?

    There is.

    Thanks
